Today in hopefully off-the-wall fan theories from The Summer I Turned Pretty, there's speculation that Conrad Fisher might die at the end of the season.
Gonna give you a moment to process that sentence, but to be clear: there's no firm evidence that this happens. And those of us who have read the book know that Conrad's ending is entirely different.
But that hasn't stopped TikTok from speculating that there are signs / foreshadowings that Conrad's death could be imminent:

Meanwhile, creator and author Jenny Han did tell Elite Daily that the show might end differently than the books. "I always knew how I wanted to end the books," she said. "But with the show, I went into it with an open mind. I wanted to approach it with fresh eyes and just see what sort of magic happened on screen. I am somebody who is always changing things up."
So yeahhhhh, anything could happen. But it seems unlikely that the show would take such a major pivot, and leave so few episodes for the characters—especially Belly—to work through Conrad's unexpected death. Like...it just doesn't make sense!
