Talk of a spin-off of The Office has been happening ever since the show was first airing. (Remember the backdoor pilot for the spin-off about Dwight's family?) But now, it's actually happening! The Paper premieres on September 4, 2025 on Peacock, and it's not a spin-off in the sense that it focuses on one of the main characters from the original. Instead, it's set in the same universe as The Office and is about the documentary film crew's next project: following the staff at an Ohio-based newspaper called the Toledo Truth-Teller.
Most of the cast is brand new. That's right, most. There is one actor from the original who is reprising his same role. Read on to learn all about the cast of The Paper.
Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson
Domhnall Gleeson plays Ned Sampson, the new editor-in-chief of the Toledo Truth Teller. The newspaper has been around for a long time, but isn't in great shape. Ned hopes to turn that around.
Gleeson is known for roles in About Time, Ex Machina, and the third Star Wars trilogy. Harry Potter fans also know him as Bill Weasley.

Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmeralda Grand
Esmeralda Grand is the managing editor of the Truth Teller, who has to start collaborating with Ned and confront his different ways of doing things.
American audiences probably know Italian actor Sabrina Impacciatore best for starring as Valentina on season 2 of The White Lotus. In Italy, she's starred in films, including Napoleon and Me and Miss F, while another recent American role was in the thriller G20.

Another writer for the Truth Teller is Detrick Moore, though as his character says in the trailer, the extent of his writing experience is tweeting. He also works in ad sales.
Melvin Gregg plays Detrick. Gregg has had roles in films, including High Flying Bird, The Way Back, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday. You may have caught him in Nine Perfect Strangers or in another mockumentary, American Vandal.

Tim Key as Ken Davies
Tim Key plays Ken Davies, a corporate strategist, who explains in the trailer that he works for a company that sells "products made out of paper: toilet tissue, toilet seat protectors, and local newspapers—and that is in order of quality."
Key is a comedian and poet, who co-founded the British comedy group Cowards. His on-screen roles include the movies See How They Run and Mickey 17.

Oscar Nuñez as Oscar Martinez
Lastly, we have our one returning character from The Office: Oscar Martinez. And as seen the trailer, the accountant is not keen to be part of a documentary again. "I'm not agreeing to any of this ... I will make this unusable," Oscar says before swearing. "Use that."
The real Oscar Nuñez is, of course, known best for The Office. He's also had recent roles in The Lost City, Disenchanted, and the TV show Mr. Iglesias.
