Our Autumn plans are sorted, as Netflix has just announced a brand new series that's giving major Peaky Blinders and Succession vibes.
Based on the real-life Guinness family, House of Guinness will air on the streaming site this September, and we can't wait!
"It’s the extraordinary story of a family who happens to be the inheritors of the biggest brewery in the world. They’re young and are given the task of taking on this incredibly successful brand," creator Steven Knight (who is also behind Peaky Blinders) told Tudum. "The first priority is: Don’t screw it up. And the second priority is to make Guinness even bigger."
Ahead of its launch, read on for everything you need to know about the gripping series, which we can already feel is going to become our new TV obsession.
House of Guinness release date
House of Guinness has been confirmed to air on Thursday, September 25. All eight episodes will be available to stream on that day.
What is House of Guinness about?
House of Guinness whisks us back to the 1860s and tells the story of the powerful Guinness family.
Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the brains behind the success of the Guinness brewery. His passing—and the contents of his will—causes tension between his four children, Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters whose lives and livelihoods are closely tied to the Guinness legacy.
Knight revealed that brothers Arthur and Edward are the "heart" of House of Guinness, saying: "I won’t give away the plot, but they were given joint stewardship of the brewery for very interesting reasons. Before he died, their father very deliberately chained Arthur and Edward together in responsibility for the brewery. You’ll find out why when you watch."
