• The Studio has officially been renewed for season 2 by AppleTV+!
  • The show was renewed before season 1 even finished, and before the show was nominated for a whopping 23 Emmy awards.
  • The release date for season 2, however, has not been confirmed. Read on for estimated timing and what season 2 could be about.

Tons of movies tackle the magic and grandeur of filmmaking. (Might I remind you of The Fabelmans or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?)But The Studio, from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (the dynamic duo behind Superbad) takes the episodic storytelling route. The TV show taps into the necessary and frustrating absurdities of getting a movie made in Hollywood right now. The result is a hilarious (but pointed) satirical look at the film industry.

The final episode of season 1 hit Apple TV+ on May 21. With the premiere season over and the show nominated for a whopping 23 Emmys, we must ask the pertinent question: Will we be blessed with another one?

Well, here's everything we know about The Studio season 2 so far.

Are we getting a season 2 of The Studio?

Yes! I'll get straight to the point, the show was renewed before season 1 was even finished. That's great news.

What will season 2 be about?

Season 1 ended on a relatively optimistic note, with Matt and his team somehow pulling off their CinemaCon presentation and holding off disaster... for now. The question of whether their studio will be sold to a tech company is still very much up in the air.

In an interview with Deadline, Goldberg said, "We already had 30 ideas for episodes. 20 more showed up between seasons. We have so many ideas. And so, it’s been a real pleasure to sit down and just choose which 10 are going to be the ones.” So it looks like there will be plenty of material to work with.

Who's in the cast of The Studio season 2?

Season 1 of The Studio has an amazingly stacked cast filled with Hollywood heavy hitters. Seth Rogen, Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders are all main cast members, and we have people like Zac Efron, Zoë Kravitz, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, and Adam Scott who all appear on the show playing themselves. Oh, and who could forget Bryan Cranston playing the hard-ass, high-powered studio exec?

Season 2 is hopefully going to be just as star-studded, and Rogen and Goldberg have lots of guest starts they're already courting. Within the aforementioned ideas, Rogen said, "Two of them are contingent on incredibly elusive celebrities who I doubt we will get. So maybe we need to go with two more." Incredibly elusive celebrities... this should be a fun guessing game!

When will season 2 of The Studio premiere?

The show is officially renewed, obviously, and as of August, they were still working on writing the next season. "We hope to start shooting in January,” Goldberg told Deadline, which means the show would probably hit screens late 2026. We'll keep this story updated.
