Warning: Contains spoilers for The White Lotus season 3, episode 4 'Hide and Seek'
The White Lotus has aired yet another gasp-worthy nude scene, this time with dysfunctional dad Timothy Ratliff, played by Jason Isaacs.
The scene in questioned happened during Sunday night's episode (9th March) at the Ratcliffe family villa.
The family, including Timothy, Victoria (Parker Posey), sons Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), and daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) had been discussing an upcoming boat trip. Unaware that her husband had taken them, Victoria revealed that some of her Lorazepam pills had gone missing.
Piper questioned her mum about why she needed the pills, to which she admitted feeling nervous when in public. Piper then mentioned the private club they go to and at this point Timothy became visibly stressed, possibly at the thought of his friends finding out about his shady business dealings.
High off the pills he'd taken, Timothy decided to stretch out lifting the robe he'd been wearing and exposing his genitals to his children. Clearly gobsmacked, they all covered their eyes, while wife Victoria chuckled.
Speaking about the scene in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Isaacs joked: “It is now in my contract for every show I do, so we'll see. It'll get easier, hopefully,” as Schwarzenegger added: “You should be asking what it was like for us to watch it.”
As to what got his character to that point, Timothy isn't a regular Lorazepam user, however, as viewers will know he's been under some stress over fears he might be going to jail following suspicious business practices. “He's drugging himself into a stupor to try not to think about the fact that his entire life is blowing up and trying to work out what to do about it,” Isaacs continued.
“It was actually quite challenging — I remember reading the scripts thinking, ‘Wow, I've got to keep my powder dry for five or six episodes, and then this s**t really kicks off.’ You haven't seen other things that are coming, but I just remember thinking, ‘I better dig deep and produce something here,’ because there's a lot of parts you can go through and tell a very dramatic story without your character going through anything extreme. But there's some big, old acting coming up.”
Isaacs joins the growing collection of nudes in Mike White's HBO holiday series, alongside his onscreen son Patrick, season two's Theo James and season one's Steve Zahn.
That said, fans weren't quite prepared for the moment with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts.
“Watching The White Lotus. Omg I wasn’t ready for the full frontal,” one wrote.
Another said: “Wasn't excepting to see a naked Jason Issacs but it's The White Lotus so shouldn't be shocked.”
While a third added with a gif of Oprah Winfrey celebrating: “Another full frontal scene on The White Lotus and this time it's the dad.”
