If you’ve been watching the deranged/messy reality show known as The Ultimatum on Netflix, first of all, how are you? Lifting you up in prayer. Second of all, you’ve probably noticed the silver wine glasses, which are quite literally everywhere. Not only are these bulky goblets used at the hotel where the cast first meet, but they also appear at random restaurants and bars throughout the series all:
And if you were a fan of Love Is Blind, these glasses should look pretty familiar because creators used the same ones on that series—only in gold, not silver.
And, like, even the Ultimatum cast members were alarmed by them:
Anyway, turns out that, yep, this was all very intentional on the part of the Ultimatum powers that be. Speaking to Today Food, creator Chris Coelen mused, “The silver goblets in The Ultimatum are an homage to the gold goblets in Love Is Blind. We think the goblets are a subtle but fun way to tie the elements of each show together.”
I mean, nothing subtle about it, but okay. And FYI, this musing follows Chris’s previous statement about the gold goblets on Love Is Blind. Ahem: “When you turn on the show, you know it’s our show. It’s a very authentic, really true following of these people’s journeys, but I like the fact that we have this sort of connective tissue with that in a really light way, it’s fun.”
