After seven seasons, Vanessa and Nick Lachey are still trying to get to the bottom of one of life’s biggest questions: Is love truly blind? Like all the seasons before it, season 8 of Netflix’s Love Is Blind put this question to the test, inviting singles from Minneapolis to try to fall in love and get engaged sight unseen.
Out of the 32 members of the Love Is Blind season 8 cast members, only 10 left the pods engaged—that’s five couples total, in case math isn’t your strong suit. (There were also two other couples who got engaged in the pods who weren’t shown but...more on that later.) And not all engaged couples made it down the aisle. Now that season 8 is coming to an end, here’s everything you need to know about the Love Is Blind season 8 couples and where they stand.
Spoiler alert: The following contains spoilers for Love Is Blind season 8. Proceed with caution. And catch up on Netflix here.
Are Joey Leveille and Monica Danús still together?
Relationship status: No longer together
I was really rooting for these two. Joey and Monica were quick to connect in the pods thanks to their equally silly, easygoing attitudes. The two laughed their way through serious conversations about money, siblings, and loss, and were the first couple we saw get engaged.
Outside the pods, things got a little rocky. Monica’s sister expressed some apprehension about Joey, telling Monica that he seemed to know exactly “what people want to hear.” And the two seemed to struggle with telling each other how they actually felt. In the end, Monica said no at the altar, and Joey agreed, saying he wasn’t ready.
The Reunion: At the season 8 reunion, Monica was clearly frustrated after watching their relationship play out. She felt like Joey was never really into her and didn’t make an effort. Joey claimed that the moment he realized her sister didn’t like him, he closed himself off. (Though what Monica’s sister’s approval has to do with how much affection Joey showed—or didn’t show—I have no idea.)
Are Devin Buckley and Virginia Miller still together?
Relationship status: No longer together
Devin and Virginia first connected in the pods when they discovered that they went to the same high school. (They didn’t overlap, as Virginia is five years older than Devin.) The two also bonded over their love of family and seemed thrilled to be dating people who weren’t their types.
Devin, a youth basketball coach, was also fostering a connection with former basketball coach Brittany Dodson, but in the end, they decided they were a bit too similar. (Devin also struggled with the fact that Brittany had previous situationships with women, which was a deal-breaker for her.) They parted on good terms and Devin focused the rest of his time in the pods on Virginia.
And though their time in Honduras went swimmingly, the two butted heads a bit back home. Talk of prenups and separate bank accounts gave Devin pause, but their different views on finances wasn’t a deal-breaker and Devin ended up signing the prenup. Their main issue now is that Virginia is a Democrat while Devin says his family is more conservative and votes according to their religion. When Virginia pushed him on abortion rights, he seemed incredibly hesitant to agree with her.
Turns out, the politics conversation was enough to give Virginia pause. She said no at the altar, leaving Devin speechless and his family pissed. She said that his reluctance to discuss heavy topics left her feeling like their relationship hadn’t progressed enough for her to be comfortable committing to a marriage, and I can’t blame her.
The Reunion: At the reunion, Virginia revealed that another factor in her decision was a note from an ex-girlfriend she found the night before the wedding. Devin explained that the ex-girlfriend was now dating one of his groomsmen and was a close friend.
Are Ben Mezzenga and Sara Carton still together?
Relationship Status: No longer together
Ben and Sara connected right away in the pods and all seemed perfectly aligned at first. Even though Ben is more religious—he goes to church every week—and Sara is more spiritual—she’s against any church that doesn’t believe in LGBTQIA+ rights—the two were able to find common ground. And then Sara brought up politics: LGBTQIA+ rights and Black Lives Matter are two of the issues she cares most about, and she was disappointed to hear Ben say that he hadn’t voted in the 2020 election (WTF, Ben!!) and that he didn’t really “keep up” with the murder of George Floyd.
Sara decided to give Ben a pass, citing his good values, so they got engaged. But after their romantic getaway, real life gave them a wake-up call...in the form of a TikTok claiming Ben once ghosted and “manipulated” another woman.
The result, of course, was some mistrust on Sara’s part, though Ben claimed to have grown since the incident. The next hurdle? His religion. Sara gave his church a chance but was unimpressed, especially after she found a previous sermon that seemed anti-LGBTQIA+. She pushed Ben about it, but he said he didn’t remember. Sara keeps insisting that she “knows his heart,” but...does she really? The latest batch of episodes ended on a cliffhanger, with Sara getting ready to say “I do” or “I don’t.”
Ben and Sara clearly wanted to make it work despite their differences, but at the altar, Sara couldn’t commit, citing their differing politics. At the end of the day, she just wasn’t impressed by his lack of interest in social issues. He asked her if they could still date, but she seemed uninterested.
The Reunion: Turns out, Sara was willing to work on their relationship after the wedding. They even lived together for a bit. But when Sara headed out of state for a job with the understanding that Ben would join her in a few days, he totally ghosted her. He claims he wanted to talk, but Sara didn’t respond to any of his three texts, which she felt were highly scripted and disrespectful.
Are Daniel Hastings and Taylor Haag still together?
Relationship status: Married!
Daniel and Taylor had one of the strongest connections in the pods. Daniel even got down on one knee during their first date (as a joke, but still cute!). When Daniel told Taylor his dream of sending out annual corny family Christmas cards, she was elated, and they began fantasizing about future holidays.
They left the pods engaged, but their relationship could be over before it even starts. After they met face-to-face, Taylor got a nagging feeling that she knew Daniel and suspected that he’d followed her on Instagram not long before entering the pods. She claims that an account with a profile picture that may or may not be Christmas-themed mysteriously followed and unfollowed her. Now she’s worried that he may have looked through her profile and memorized certain personality traits that they bonded over.
That said! Having found no evidence that Daniel actually followed her on Instagram prior to the experiment, Taylor and Daniel quickly found their groove outside the pods—and even their families got along beautifully!
Unsurprisingly, these two made it down the aisle without a hitch and said “I do.”
The Reunion: Daniel and Taylor are still going strong. So strong, in fact, that Daniel got a massive tattoo of Taylor’s eyes on his chest. If that’s not commitment, I don’t know what is.
Are Dave Bettenburg and Lauren O'Brien still together?
Relationship status: No longer together
Lauren was intrigued by Dave from day one in the pods, but it took Dave some time to choose between his relationship with Lauren and his connection with Molly Mulaney. Though he seemed to have a more fun connection with Molly in the pods, his emotional connection to Lauren won out and the two left the pods engaged.
The drama didn’t end there, of course. Outside the pods, Dave learned that Lauren hooked up with a guy from his friend group shortly before filming began. Though he claimed he tried to get past it, Dave refused to let Lauren meet any of his friends or family so that she could clear her name, and he clearly didn’t believe her version of events despite never meeting this other guy. Frustrated, Lauren confronted him and the two ended their engagement.
At a cast meet-up soon after, Molly set Dave straight, telling him that he was sabotaging his own relationship. The talk seemed to hit a chord and Dave apologized to Lauren, clearly hoping they might be able to work things out, but Lauren was unimpressed.
The Reunion: Dave was appropriately apologetic at the reunion, which was filmed after the first batch of episodes had dropped. By then, he could see that the guy who claimed to have been dating Lauren before the show seemed to be doing all of this for clout. But his epiphany has come one year too late for Lauren. While she appreciated his apology and stood up for him, she didn’t exactly look thrilled when Dave said that he thought she was “the one that got away.”
Are Brian Sumption and Kylie Schuelke still together?
Relationship status: Engaged (for now)
Though their love story wasn’t featured this season, Kylie and Brian recently went public with their relationship on IG and confirmed they’re still going strong!
Are Mo Ndiaye and Brittany Dodson still together?
Relationship status: No longer engaged
While it’s unclear why Kylie and Brian’s love story didn't make the cut, it’s quickly becoming clear why Mo and B Dot weren’t featured this season. More on their whole deal ahead...
