It’s been two years since Olivia Rodrigo made her smashing debut at the VMAs, and the Sour songwriter just made her big return to the stage with a huge performance. Olivia dropped her highly anticipated sophomore album GUTS on September 8, and what better way to celebrate the release than with a legendary VMAs return?
The singer-songwriter hit the stage at New Jersey’s Prudential Center in a shimmery silver outfit and brought her moving lyrics to life.
The former MTV PUSH Artist earned six nods at this year’s VMAs for her number one lead single off Guts, “Vampire.” One of those nominations is in the coveted Video of the Year category, which features the ranks of Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, and SZA, to name a few.
In 2021, Olivia made her VMAs debut with a high-energy performance of her angsty breakup anthem “Good 4 U” and even snagged a few awards as a first-time nominee. With three VMAs under her belt, Olivia took home the Moon Person awards for Best New Artist, Push Artist, and Song of the Year.
Ms. Rodrigo’s VMAs performances are 2 for 2 rn, so here’s to hoping she adds a few more Moon People to her growing collection too. 👏
