As much as I love a good fantasy flick or sci-fi thriller, there's nothing quite as exciting as knowing the movie you're watching is based on real events—unless, ofc, we're talking about horror movies inspired by real stories, because NOPE. Movies based on true stories let you learn a lil bit more about a historical event or influential figure than you did before, and while we got pleeeeenty of great based-on-a-true-story movies in 2021, the best true story movies of 2022 look even more promising, if that's possible. Thx, Hollywood!!

K, so you might think it's lazy to base a movie off of a real-life event (especially since Hollywood is already full of reboots, remakes, sequels, and movies based on books). However! I personally L-I-V-E for a well-made biopic, and you might change your mind when you see what's comin' your way in 2022. This year, you can look forward to seeing the highly-anticipated biopics for Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Whitney Houston, just to name a few, as well as a wild WWII saga, a Western drama, and a completely bonkers and totally unauthorized Celine Dion movie that you gotta see to believe. Ahead, all the new and upcoming true story movies you need to have on your radar for 2022.
