Mirror, mirror on the wall, what new Disney remake has come to call? That would be the highly anticipated live-action film Snow White, which serves as a reimagining of its 1937 animated counterpart about a beautiful, young girl, a jealous, evil queen, and a poisoned apple. The movie stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as Snow White’s stepmother, the Evil Queen — a far cry from her Wonder Woman persona (Diana of Themyscira would never!). It’s your classic good vs. evil story that hard-launched Disney’s journey into the world of animation. And while the remake has been shrouded in controversy for a variety of different reasons (some fair and some really, really not fair), that may only prove to draw viewers in all the more, just to see what all the fuss is about. But which viewing experience is the best for you?

Let’s consult the Magic Mirror and discover everything you need to know about watching the live-action Snow White.

When is Snow White coming out?

The film makes its theatrical debut on Friday, March 21. However, advanced screening opportunities were offered to those in select cities for March 18. So if you happen to be one of those lucky few—no spoilers for the rest of us, please!

How can I watch Snow White in theaters?

The film may have scaled back a bit for the premiere, but like the many (many, many) Disney live-action movies that have come before it, Snow White can be expected to pop up in pretty much every movie theater, which gives you plenty of options when it comes to coordinating your viewing schedule. Perhaps you’ll even decide to return for a second showing, and if so, there should be plenty of available dates and times at your disposal — at least when the film first comes out. Just be sure to check your local listings to be sure.

When can I stream Snow White at home?

Then again, you may prefer to watch the movie from the comfort of your own home with a variety of yummy snacks at your disposal (sans apples, obviously). However, that luxury comes with a price and that price is patience. At this time, Disney has yet to reveal exactly when Snow White will make its streaming debut, but whenever it does, it’ll definitely be on Disney+. In fact, if you search for the film on the streaming service, it already says “Coming Soon to Disney+.” So it’ll get there eventually, it’s just a question of when. Fellow live-action film Mufasa: The Lion King hit theaters on December 20, 2024 and is slated to premiere on the platform starting March 26, 2025. That’s basically a three month wait, so if Snow White abides by that same timeline, you could be watching the movie in your pajamas as early as June.

And for those of you who don’t have a Disney+ account, have no fear. Like many other movies, it should be available to rent or buy on places like Amazon Prime, iTunes, AppleTV, and YouTube. You can even hum a little tune — or, better yet, whistle — while you search for it.
