The films have been watched. The votes have been counted. Now, we wait for the arrival of the 97th annual Academy Awards ceremony Sunday night to reveal which stars are earning Hollywood's most prestigious titles. You could wager a guess as to who's getting the Best Actress/Actor trophies based on their acting quality, the fan reception to their performance, or your personal taste. Or you could consult the stars, which we've opted to do here, with expert astrologer Lisa Stardust.
According to Lisa, we're in for a pretty non-traditional ceremony thanks to Venus Retrograde. That astrological transit also means that a lot of this year's red carpet outfits may shock us. "Venus represents beauty, so since it's in retrograde, the stars are either going to be overwhelming or underwhelming us." Since Venus also represents harmony and manners, Lisa predicts that the audience may be a little more aloof, and less down to sit through a long ceremony. But which actors are the planets supporting to win? Read on to find out.
Best Actress
Most Likely: Demi Moore, The Substance
Demi's Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Awards wins for her performance in The Substance already indicate that she's in a good place to take home the Oscar. As does the fact that the North Node (which represents destiny) is in Pisces right now. And Demi's natal Jupiter is in Pisces too. "Whenever we see someone's natal Jupiter—a positive planet—come to the North Node, it means that it's a really auspicious time for the person," Lisa says. "Demi also has a Pisces ascendant, which means that she's shining bright and life's spotlight's on her right now. This seems like her year."
Next Most Likely: Fernanda Torres, I'm Still Here
The odds are also heavily in Fernanda's favor this weekend because she's experiencing her Jupiter return in Gemini. For those that don't know, this is a super confidence-boosting and successful transit that usually expands your life for the better. So why isn't Fernanda a shoo-in for the gold? "Her Venus and Neptune are on her south node, so that could point to a loss." All hope is not lost Mrs. Torres!
Best Actor
Most Likely: Colman Domingo, Sing Sing
So Colman's actually going through a pretty rare and lucky transit, his nodal return, which happens every 18-19 years. This is when the north node (which, as we mentioned represents destiny) returns to where it was when you were born. Translation? This period is looking positively fated for Colman, so an Oscar win would simply make sense.
Next Most Likely: Ralph Fiennes, Conclave
Like Demi, Ralph has his Jupiter in Pisces, which is a great sign! But according to Lisa, despite this being a lucky time for Ralph, other planets might hinder his chance of winning. "He also has his natal Uranus and Pluto on the south node, which isn't very promising," says Lisa. "That could go either way. The outcome for him looks erratic. He's having very big highs and very big lows."
Potential Upset: Adrien Brody, The Brutalist
The stars are not seeing it for an Adrien win. While his Mercury in Pisces is on the north node of destiny, other activations in his chart weigh it down. His Jupiter, that lucky planet that put Demi in such a good spot to win, is meeting Saturn, the planet of restriction. "While Jupiter's transiting his tenth house of career, with Saturn there, that can also mean he'll experience delays," Lisa says.
Potential Upset: Timothée Chalamet, A Complete Unknown
Timothée is currently going through his infamous Saturn Return, which Lisa doesn't find super promising. "The likelihood of him winning is low, but anything's possible," Lisa says. The north node in Pisces is meeting Timmy's natal moon in Pisces, so there's going to be a whole lot of attention on him this weekend regardless. (As there should be.)
