What are your plans for Valentine's Day this year? Are you hosting a Galentine’s Day party? Snuggling up with a special someone? Snuggling with up a special someone who is actually a bottle of wine/a pint of ice cream/a large (but yet, single serving) pizza? Whatever you’re doing this Valentine’s Day, there’s a movie on Netflix that suits your heart-day needs.
We’ve compiled some of the sweetest, sappiest movies that’ll make you feel all the feels. We've also got some *deep* dramas, some LOL-worthy rom-coms, and some old classics that all happen to have at least a sprinkling of romance to give you variety in your streaming experience. And, let's just get this warning out of the way right now: You might want to keep a box of tissues nearby, 'cause sometimes the greatest love stories don’t have happy endings or can be pretty rough along the way. The emotional roller coasters are REAL.
No matter how and what you wanna watch, we've got something for ya. Happy Valentine's Day, bb.
1. Lady Chatterley’s Lover
Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell star in this adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s 1928 novel Lady Chatterley's Lover. And this story about a wealthy woman who starts an affair with a working class guy is steamy! In fact, the book was so sexually explicit that it was frequently banned in the 20th century.
2. Good Grief
Dan Levy wrote, directed, and stars in Good Grief. It's based around a dark premise—a man (Levy) loses his husband (Luke Evans) in a car accident—but it has plenty of feel-good moments, as well. The movie follows the aftermath of the loss, the new widower's bond with his best friends (Himesh Patel, Ruth Negga), and his time getting back into dating.
3. Anyone But You
Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney star in Anyone But You, which will make anyone looking for classic rom-com tropes happy. The story is about enemies-turned-lovers and faking a relationship. What more could you need?
4. Love, Guaranteed
Rachael Leigh Cook stars in Love, Guaranteed as a lawyer who begins working with a man (Damon Wayans Jr.) who is interested in suing a dating site, because he hasn't found love after nearly 1,000 dates. Given that this is a rom-com you can probably guess how things shake out.
5. Elisa & Marcela
Elisa & Marcela tells the story of the real life women Elisa Sánchez Loriga and Marcela Gracia Ibeas, who were the couple married in Spain's first same-sex marriage in 1901. But, given that it would be 100 more years before this was actually legal, Elisa and Marcela posed as a straight couple to tie the knot.
6. Maestro
Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan star in Maestro, which is about the life of composer Leonard Bernstein with a specific focus on his relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre. The spouses loved each other, but their marriage was a particularly complicated one given that Bernstein was also having relationships with men.
7. Fair Play
How about an erotic thriller for Valentine's Day? Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich star in Fair Play about a couple who work for the same hedge fund. Their relationship takes a dramatic turn when one of them received a promotion and the other becomes increasingly resentful. This movie is probably best if you're having a men-are-trash kinda Valentine's Day.
8. Love at First Sight
Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy star in the rom-com Love at First Sight, which is based on the book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. It's about two strangers who meet during an international flight and go through various struggles as they attempt to reconnect once they arrive in London.
9. Your Place or Mine
Despite what the press tour would have you believe, this rom-com (which revolves around platonic besties played by Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher who decide to swap houses for a week) is actually v fun.
10. Falling for Christmas
Lindsay Lohan making her acting comeback in a sweet romcom with Chord Overstreet?? Say less, and put it on your TV immediately!! Make this a trilogy somehow, pls.
11. Notting Hill
Take it back to 1999 with Notting Hill, starring romantic comedy all-stars Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Roberts plays an American actor, Anna, while Grant plays an English bookstore owner, William. The two fall for each other, but their differing lives—and Anna's immense fame—threaten their connection.
12. You People
Starring Jonah Hill and Lauren London, this rom-com follows two millennials as they fall for each other despite their v different backgrounds, and it's well worth the watch just for all the fantastic cameos (rumored CGI kiss be damned).
13. Love Hard
This is for everyone who's still trying to use dating apps: Who knew that getting catfished could turn into a (surprisingly cute) rom-com? And you won't be sad to have Nina Dobrev and Jimmy O. Yang flirting on your screen.
14. 13 Going on 30
Jennifer Garner stars in the rom-com classic 13 Going on 30, which answers the question: What happens when a 13-year-old girl suddenly becomes her 30-year-old self? Well, she falls for Mark Ruffalo, for one thing.
15. The Last Letter From Your Lover
Based on the bestselling book, this is a romance that time-jumps between a hot extramarital affair and the reporter reading their secret letters decades later, wondering what happened to them. Trust us, the twists are wild.
16. A Whisker Away
This Japanese animated film has a fun/fascinating premise: A girl who's secretly in love with her school crush (been there!) gets the chance to turn into a cat and become his beloved pet (...have not been there, but cool!).
17. The Princess Switch
You probably know about this silly, silly movie. But you probably also know that watching Vanessa Hudgens fall in love, twice, is the fluffy fun rom-com you need when you've had a hard day.
18. He's All That
He's All That is a gender-swapped remake of the '90s teen rom-com She's All That. This time, Addison Rae plays a popular high schooler—and TikTok star, so the role's a real stretch for her—who accepts a bet to turn an unpopular boy (Tanner Buchanan) into the prom king.
19. Let It Snow
Based on a YA novel, this is the kind of ensemble comedy that's actually good (sorry to anyone who loves New Year's Eve). A bunch of high school students get snowed in, and feelings are discovered! You get it!
20. Maid in Manhattan
A hotel maid and a politician fall in love in Maid in Manhattan, which stars Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes. The issue? The maid accidentally has to keep up a scheme that she's a rich woman staying at the hotel. What could go wrong?
21. 365 Days
You probably already know this, but we'll say it regardless: The beginning premise of the movie is not great (a guy kidnaps a woman and gives her a year to fall in love with him). The real reason you probably know about it, though, is that it has some of the hottest sex scenes in recent memory. Sometimes it's what ya need.
22. Persuasion
Based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, Persuasion stars Dakota Johnson as Anne Elliot, a woman who reunites with her ex-fiancé, who had previously been deemed an unacceptable husband by her family. Co-stars include Henry Golding and Cosmo Jarvis.

25. It Ends with Us
It Ends with Us isn't a light, carefree rom-com like a lot of the other movies listed here. But while it's a heavier movie (the storyline involves domestic violence), there is also a healthy, non-toxic love story involved.
26. Holidate
Two single strangers who have a mutual dislike for holidays decide to be each other’s plus-one for every major occasion throughout the year. Of course, this includes Valentine’s Day. If you, too, hate being single around the holidays and being stuck at the kids’ table, you’ll appreciate this one.
27. Falling Inn Love
This rom-com stars Christina Milian as a city girl who leaves her home in San Francisco behind after a breakup to relocate to New Zealand, where an inn that she won through a contest awaits. The problem: The inn is a wreck—but luckily, a handsome contractor will help her mend the inn (as well as her heart). Aww.
28. When We First Met
If the friend zone is a category you fall into far too often, you’ll feel this movie deep in your soul. But TBH, it’ll also probably make you feel better about being friend-zoned by your desired lover in the end, so there’s that!
29. Someone Great
This whirlwind of a love story turned breakup film (which is also about finding yourself after a painful breakup) is best watched with a group of girlfriends. And wine. Lots of wine. Oh, and grab some tissues while you’re at it. Gina Rodriguez, DeWanda Wise, Brittany Snow, and LaKeith Stanfield star.
30. Always Be My Maybe
There’s nothing better than a good, lighthearted reunion flick. Centered on two former flames (Ali Wong, Randall Park) who meet again 15 years later, it’s a great way to reflect on how people change over time and if you can deny an obvious connection. Spoiler: You can’t. Also, Keanu Reeves shows up, so you know it’ll be worth it.
31. Ibiza: Love Drunk
You know when you watch a movie on a wine night with your friends but everyone’s talking over it and you’re sad that you’re missing what is probably a very good film? Well…Ibiza is the solution to that problem. It’s definitely funny, but it doesn’t require your full attention. The cast features Gillian Jacobs, Richard Madden, and Phoebe Robinson.
32. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

But with your Noah Centineo obsession, you probably already knew that.
33. The Perfect Date
Speaking of Noah Centineo! He also stars in this one as Brooks Rattigan, a high school student trying to raise funds for college by creating a dating app that sells himself as a nonthreatening plus-one for women to bring along to a variety of occasions. 39. Happy Anniversary
It may not be light and breezy, but Happy Anniversary is a refreshing look at what happens after the meet-cute is over. In it, a couple played by Ben Schwartz and Noël Wells must experience the highs and lows that come with long-term relationships, and it's oh-so relatable.
40. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Choosing between two equally hot men isn’t exactly the worst problem to have, but you can still empathize with Lily James’ struggle. Will she choose the wealthy American man (Glen Powell) or the sweet British lad (Michiel Huisman)? You’ll have to watch and see!
41. The Half of It
This is one of those classic "girl tries to help cute guy friend get the girl" movies, but the twist is that the girl (Leah Lewis)… actually has a crush on the other girl (Alexis Lemire), too. Cute! This melancholy take on Cyrano de Bergerac is the perfect thing for a cozy, rainy Valentine’s Day with a lot of blankets and tea (or wine). The stars are

44. The Lovebirds
When we tell you that you are going to be c-a-c-k-l-i-n-g throughout this entire movie, it is not a lie! Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani play a longtime couple stumbling through their fizzled-out romance until… they become murder suspects and obviously, chaos ensues.
