Cowboy Carter hasn't hit the Met steps since 2016, and she skipped out on the gala this year despite fans' anticipation that she'd make a big return.

Blake—aka our other reigning queen of the Met Gala—was one of its co-chairs in 2022, but she likely missed out on this year's event to stay at home with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her kids.

Several outlets have reported that Taylor Swift was "passing on" the event this year despite receiving an invitation. Tay hasn't attended since she was one of the gala's co-chairs in 2016 (pictured here), and according to her Eras Tour schedule, she's set to continue her international leg on May 9—just three days after the Met Gala.

Per TMZ, “sources with direct knowledge” said Travis and Taylor were “each issued individual invitations to the Met Gala.” It's unclear why Travis reportedly skipped out, but he recently confirmed Entertainment Tonight that he'll be attending some international Eras Tour shows. “She’ll be all over Europe. There won’t be a bad show, I promise you that. Oh, you know I gotta go support. You know it,” he told the outlet.

Despite an AI-generated image of Katy going viral, the singer actually wasn't at the Met Gala. She confirmed that she missed the event on Instagram with a clip of her in the studio, writing, "Couldn't make it to the MET, had to work."

While we were holding out for Selena and Benny to make their red carpet at the Met Gala, the couple ended up skipping out due to work and travel commitments.

A public Meghan and Harry appearance is a rarity these days, so their skipping out on the Met isn't so surprising. According to People, PHarry has a work commitment in London two days after the Met Gala on May 8. He’ll be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Invictus Games with a special reading, and then Meghan is said to be joining him in Nigeria after.

Ice has kept things lowkey on social media lately, but she is booked and busy! Her debut album, Y2K, is on the horizon and she's set to make her acting debut (!!!!) in Spike Lee’s upcoming reinterpretation of High and Low.

O-Rod is actually overseas on her GUTS World Tour, and according to a recent Instagram post, she was out and about in the UK on Met Monday.

Billie served as a co-chair during her first-ever (!!!) Met Gala in 2021 and attended again in 2022 and 2023. This year, she skipped out on the festivities to gear up for the release of her new album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT—and she spent all day signing CDs for her fans, according to her Instagram Stories.

KoKo has been open about her distaste for red carpets, and she conquered her fear at the 2022 Met Gala. Khloé spoke about her decision to attend the event for the first time during an episode of The Kardashians, saying, “I have been invited in the past. I just opted not to go. I’m not big on red carpets. I think I’ve made that very clear.”

Billy Porter last shut down the Met Steps with his show-stopping pharaoh-inspired look in 2019, but he revealed that he wouldn't be attending this year's event as his mother recently passed away in February. “I just lost my mom,” Billy told E! News at the TIME 100 Gala on April 25. “I have to take care of myself, so I’m doing that. And that means not going to the party sometimes.”

The Biebers haven't attended the Met Gala since 2021, and they opted out of this year's event amid reports that Justin is going through a "difficult time." An insider told Entertainment Tonight, “Justin has been facing some difficulties lately. He has been having a hard time and hasn’t been feeling like his usual self. Hailey has been doing her best to be there for Justin, but it is upsetting for her to see him struggle. They are doing their best to make things work and be supportive of each other. They are committed to doing whatever it takes to make things better.”

After her massive night at the Grammys (and the gorgeous looks she pulled), we were hoping to see Miss Miley grace the Met steps. Alas, she didn't make it for unknown reasons.

Jenna likely missed the first Monday in May because, well, she's Wednesday. No, seriously—filming for season 2 of the Netflix series is taking place in Ireland and reportedly started production in late April.

As for Ashley Park, she likely skipped out on the Met Gala because she was in Paris with her beau, Paul Forman, a week before the benefit.
