The 2026 Met Gala hasn’t been without drama. A “brawl” reportedly broke out on the red carpet when protesters clashed with the police, leading to one arrest.

Page Six reports that a person—who was seemingly protesting Amazon’s labor practices amid Jeff Bezos’s involvement in the Met Gala—tried to rush the red carpet near Tom Ford and Julianne Moore. The individual reportedly “pushed his way through the crowd of fans and press,” jumped over multiple steel barriers, “sprinted through traffic,” and then “vaulted” another barrier.

Per a source, “Tom instinctively put his arms around Julianne to protect her. He was only about 20 feet away from them.”

As the Hollywood Reporter notes, this year’s Met Gala has been met with criticism due to Jeff Bezos’s involvement. The Amazon exec didn’t walk the carpet with his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

The New York Times also reports that anti-Bezos campaigns have “erupted on New York’s streets, in subways, and online,” and that there have also been calls to boycott the event.

Over the weekend, supermodel Bella Hadid left a telling Like on a post about Bezos’s participation in the Met Gala and notably didn’t attend the red carpet on Monday night, although her sister, Gigi Hadid, was there.

As of now, no one on the Met Gala host committee has released a public statement on the protest.
