- Sources revealed how much the cast of Love on the Spectrum get paid to appear on the show: nothing.
- The reality show classifies itself as a “documentary.”
- Love on the Spectrum producers have no plans to change things up in future seasons.
The year is 2026 and yet people still aren’t being paid for going on reality TV and making networks bucketloads of money. And apparently the cast of Love on the Spectrum is no exception. The beloved show’s feel-good fourth season recently premiered on Netflix, and now The Sun is out here reporting on the cast’s salaries. And it’s apparently…nothing. As in, they allegedly don’t get paid a dime.
“The cast of Love on the Spectrum does not get paid at all for appearing on the show,” a source said. “There is no stipend and no salary of any kind.”
To be clear, “Production does pay for the costs of the dates and they pay for transportation for all subjects and family members, but that is it.” On top of that, “Even more popular stars do not get paid at all when they come back.”
And production reportedly won’t be switching things up.
“They have no plans of changing its format and paying the cast in the future,” the source said. “The show is able to get away without paying any of their subjects because the show classifies itself as a documentary. And in a docuseries, subjects are not typically paid. They make it very clear upfront that this is an unpaid gig. Even the casting flyers for season 1 clearly stated this was not paid, so everyone is well aware of what they are signing up for.”
While it’s pretty shocking that the cast isn’t making money given the show’s popularity, this is also standard practice for some other major reality dating shows—The Bachelor/The Bachelorette included—whose contestants typically go on to earn money through influencing. Still, though!!!
