- The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5 was paused following domestic assault allegations.
- The cast has said they were uncomfortable continuing to film amid the ongoing situation, and scrutiny has intensified after TMZ released video of a 2023 incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen.
- Several SLOMW cast members, including Miranda Hope and Layla Taylor, have now publicly condemned domestic violence and expressed concern for the children involved.
Just days after it was revealed that production had been halted on season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, ABC announced that Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette would be canceled altogether amid domestic assault allegations involving the Mormon Wives star. Now the SLOMW cast is breaking their silence on the matter—particularly in response to that disturbing video released by TMZ on March 19, showing a 2023 domestic incident between Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
On March 20, Miranda Hope took to her Instagram Stories to release a statement, writing, “I’ve honestly been a little at a loss for words trying to process this all. Everything has been really heavy to see. Domestic violence and abuse of any kind i something I take very seriously.”
She continued, “As a human, and especially as a mother, I cannot support that kind of behavior. My heart is with the children in this and I hope they’re safe, supported, and surrounded by love.”
Layla Taylor expressed a similar sentiment, releasing a separate statement on her own Instagram Stories. “My personal history as a survivor makes it impossible for me to stay silent,” she wrote. “I stand firmly against domestic violence in any form.”
She added, “I am keeping her children in my thoughts, hoping for their safety above all else.”
Though she hasn’t yet addressed the video (either directly or indirectly), Mikayla Matthews previously addressed the SLOMW filming pause in her Instagram Stories, saying, “It was a decision that all us girls came up with and agreed on. We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening.”
NBC News also reported that MomTok met with ABC executives during a 30-minute Zoom call on March 7 after a more recent reported incident between Dakota and Taylor led to an open “domestic assault investigation.”
The outlet published some of what was said in the discussion, including one cast member saying, “It’s a dangerous situation, it’s a sad situation, and we don’t know how to navigate it because Taylor is our friend.”
