Iconic Kill Bill and Splash actor Daryl Hannah been thrust into the spotlight (unwillingly, I might add!) thanks to her real-life relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. being dramatized on Love Story. And...if you're wondering what she's up to now, that'd be a lot! Including writing a scathing op-ed calling out the show for its inaccuracies.
She Was a Presenter at the Oscars Last Year
Daryl showed up to present the award for Best Editing, and made headlines for going off script and saying "Slava Ukraini!"
She Just Directed a Documentary About Neil Young
Who happens to be her husband!
Here's the official log-line: “Take an intimate journey with maverick musician Neil Young in this personal, behind-the-scenes doc as he cruises the coast on his recent solo tour. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker and Young’s wife, Daryl Hannah, ‘Coastal’ offers a glimpse behind the curtain of this unguarded iconoclast, as he navigates a return to the stage post-Covid – from his everyday observations on his silver eagle tour bus to his candid, wry banter with his audience. The illuminating film also features songs rarely, if ever played live, performed in breathtakingly beautiful theaters.”
She Lives in Canada
Here's a glimpse of her and Neil Young at home back in 2020.
She's Deeply Committed to Activism
Daryl's grid is almost entirely focused on community projects and organizations close to her heart.
She recently said, "For decades, my work has focused on environmental advocacy, documentary filmmaking and animal-assisted therapy for seniors living with dementia and Alzheimer’s."
She's Not a Fan of Love Story
Daryl wrote a lengthy op-ed for the New York Times published on March 6, where she accused the show of being "tragedy-exploiting," "misogynistic," and said her depiction is not a "remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John. The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue."
As of now, the Love Story actors / producers haven't responded to her comments.
