The U.S. men’s hockey team can’t seem to catch a break after the 2026 Winter Olympics. After they took home a gold medal for their 2-1 win against Canada, Team USA received backlash for reportedly laughing at President Donald Trump’s misogynistic comments about the women’s team, who also won big at the Winter Games. Then the team headed to the White House for their celebratory meal…only to reportedly be served McDonald’s on paper plates.
Now, one of Team USA’s players, Brady Tkachuk, is calling out the White House for posting what is reportedly an AI-generated video of him trash-talking Team Canada after the game. “It’s clearly fake because it’s not my voice and not my lips moving,” Brady explained to the Associated Press. “I’m not in control of any of those accounts.”
He added, “I know that those words would never come out of my mouth.”
In the clip—which features a note saying it “contains AI-generated media”—an automated voice meant to be Brady says, “They booed our national anthem, so I had to come out and teach those maple syrup-eating fucks a lesson…Canada, we own you, little bro.”
At this time, the fake, AI-generated video is still posted to the White House’s TikTok profile. When asked whether he liked the doctored clip, Brady clarified that he didn’t, saying, “I would never say that. That’s not who I am.”
During Team USA’s controversial phone call with Trump, the president said, “We’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that….If I didn’t do that, I do believe I’d probably be impeached.”
Elsewhere during the call, a player seemingly yelled, “Close the northern border,” which Brady also addressed with the AP.
“I’ve been seeing stuff that people think it’s me,” he told the outlet. “But if you watch the video, that’s not my voice, and something that I never say.”
The athlete, who is actually based in Canada as the captain of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, added, “I don’t really know how that kind of took a storm on its own, when I play here and give everything I have here.”
The White House has yet to respond to his comments.
