Dove Cameron is clearing the air about her recent date night with Damiano David. The singer and actor brought her fiancé as her date to the premiere of her new Amazon Prime series, 56 Days, in Los Angeles on February 11, and a clip of their red carpet interaction has gone viral in the weeks since. More specifically, our favorite TikTok follow, @tismejackieg, gave an alleged lip reading of the couple’s interaction as they posed for photos together.
In her video, Jackie thought Dove said, “I have to do some work for this, though, so we’ll see,” and she reported Damiano as later responding, “I said I’ll be quiet.” And while Jackie never suggested that the interaction seemed tense, viewers thought the couple might have had an awkward tiff, per her lip reading.
But! Dove has entered the chat (ahem, actually, Jackie’s comments section) to clear the air and share what she actually told the Måneskin musician on the carpet.
“Guys he said ‘don’t you wanna do photos on your own first’ bc it’s my premiere and I said something like I’ll do them after we do ours. Then idk what he said but it def wasn’t that. He’s just introverted on carpets leave him aloneeeee,” the former Cosmopolitan cover girl confirmed.
Jackie then responded to Dove, writing, “Wait people are attacking him for that? I thought it was sweet?”
On the flip side, Jackie also included a clip of Dove’s on-screen love interest, Avan Jogia, with his real-life partner, Halsey, who allegedly told him they were hitting a “back pose” to show off their backless black gown. Halsey then realized they had lipstick on their teeth after taking some photos on the red carpet.
