• The U.S. men’s hockey team scored a 2-1 overtime win over Canada, winning gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
  • ‘Stranger Things’ star Noah Schnapp was spotted in the crowd sporting a Team Canada jersey.
  • The internet spiraled over Noah’s support for Team Canada, but here’s the real reason he was rooting for them at the Winter Games.

Noah Schnapp wrapped up an iconic decade-long run on Stranger Things, and he’s already making headlines in his downtime. The 21-year-old actor attended the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, where he supported Team Canada during the men’s hockey tournament on Sunday, February 22.

According to fan-captured footage, he rocked a red Team Canada jersey alongside his dad in the stands—and, naturally, the internet is spiraling about it. ICYMI, Noah and his twin sister, Chloe, have dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada since they were born in Scarsdale, New York, and their parents are from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

“Noah Schnapp cheering for Canada… and the U.S. wins in OT. Fans are already joking about the ‘jinx,’” one person wrote on social media, referencing the outpour of fans claiming that Canada lost because of his support. (Which has no correlation, but…okay!) Team USA scored a 2-1 overtime win over Canada, winning a gold medal during the Olympic Games.

Another joked that the U.S. won even though Canada reportedly has more active supporters in the game, while someone else added, “Bro said today I’m Canadian.”

Others criticized the people who claimed Noah’s support “jinxed” Canada’s game, writing, “The Milano 2026 Olympics will be remembered for two things: Jack Hughes’ golden goal and Noah Schnapp’s red jersey. It’s actually incredible how much a single person in the stands can distract from one of the greatest hockey games of our generation.”

They continued, “The lesson? In the age of social media, your ‘allegiance’ is always on display. Whether it was a jinx or just a son supporting his dad’s team, it’s a reminder that sports will always find a way to make the drama off the ice just as intense as the game itself.”

Noah has been a longtime fan of Canada’s hockey teams, including the Canadiens. In a 2017 interview for the NHL, he said, “I have citizenship here also. My whole family lives here and I’m a big fan of the Canadiens. So it’s like, ‘Why not come here?’ I have a very personal connection to this place.”

He has yet to respond to the online noise surrounding the Olympics, so stand by!
