- Buckingham Palace wasn't given notice of ex-Prince Andrew's arrest this morning.
- The disgraced royal was arrested on "suspicion of misconduct in public office."
- King Charles says he won't be making any further statements.
If you're wondering whether or not King Charles and Prince William were given a heads up about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being arrested this morning, the answer is nope. The BBC reports that "neither King Charles nor Buckingham Palace" in general were "informed in advance" of ex-Prince Andrew's arrest, meaning it came as a surprise to the royal family. To the point where–per The Times—the royals have been going about "business as usual" this week and even had some events schedule for today.
The king did, however, release a statement shortly after his brother's arrest, and made it clear he won't be speaking out further.
"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," Charles said. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R."
