- The palace PR machine is allegedly trying to give King Charles credit for ousting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal family.
- Sources say Charles actually "stalled" and "made excuses" for his brother.
- Prince William pushed for Andrew's removal and "saved the Crown."
Looks like King Charles is trying to re-write history when it comes to his disgraced brother, ex-Prince Andrew. A source tells Rob Shuter's ShuterScoop that it was William, not Charles, who pushed for Andrew to be ousted from the royal family—and now the palace "PR machine" is working overtime to rewrite the narrative, which one source says is "revisionist history."
"Charles dithered," a senior palace source claims. "He stalled, he made excuses, and he worried far more about Andrew’s feelings than the monarchy’s image." Another insider notes that “He didn’t want to upset Andrew. That was the priority."
Meanwhile, it was future king Prince William who said "'This is existential. The monarchy is at stake.' And that was the moment it ended."
William was deeply concerned about the optics and damage to the monarchy over Andrew's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and one insider explains that "Charles feels. William calculates. And in this case, calculation saved the Crown for the moment."
Prince William and Kate Middleton broke their silence via a spokesperson earlier this week, saying "I can confirm the Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims."
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying "The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct. While the specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them as you would expect."
They added that "thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse."
