• Harry Styles was spotted attending Pope Leo XIV’s conclave election at the Vatican in May 2025.
  • The Grammy winner seemingly explored other hobbies during his break, which lasted from 2023 to 2026.
  • Now, Harry has revealed the real reason he ended up at the conclave election.

Harry Styles has finally left the Harry’s House era, which means he’s officially outside again. With his upcoming fourth album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. on the horizon and his new single, “Aperture,” is out for the world to hear, Harry is revealing what he did during his downtime ahead of his latest musical era.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Greg James (yes, the same host who was casually invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding on air), Harry finally let fans in on the real reason he was spotted at the Vatican last summer.

“I was getting a haircut in Rome,” he revealed. “I heard all these people start shouting, ‘Habemus papam! Habemus papam!’ People just running down the street,” he continued, saying the Latin phrase which translates to, “We have a pope!”

“So the guy cutting my hair stopped cutting my hair, and he was like, ‘Habemus papam! There’s a new pope!’” Harry dished. “So then he finished up, and I was like, ‘I’m five minutes walk from there,’ so I walked over there. It was wild.”

Greg then took a moment to jokingly tease Harry, telling him that the Pope might be the only person who could upstage him. The One Direction alum fed into the bit as he quipped, “I was like, ‘Who’s this getting all this attention?’”

ICYMI, the “As It Was” hitmaker was photographed by a fan in the crowd on May 9, when he watched Pope Leo XIV’s ascension to the papacy while wearing a cap that said “TECHNO IS MY BOYFRIEND.” (Truly iconic.)
