• Taylor Swift released her 12th album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ on Oct. 3, 2025.
  • A few of the songs—including the raunchy “Wood”—were inspired by her romance with Travis Kelce.
  • Now, the Kansas City Chiefs athlete is admitting he missed a reference to “Wood” on the latest episode of his ‘New Heights’ podcast.

It’s been a full three months since Taylor Swift dropped The Life of a Showgirl, which features a bunch of songs inspired by her romance with Travis Kelce. So, when the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed he missed a reference to (perhaps) her raunchiest song yet, it came as a shock to fans of the couple.

During the most recent episode of his New Heights podcast with Jason Kelce, Trav admitted that a fan’s reference to Tay’s song, “Wood,” completely went over his head. When discussing the probability of releasing TLOAS-inspired merch for the pod, Jason read a listener’s comment that read, “I can’t believe none of the hoodies are called ‘New Heights of Man-Hoodie.”

The punchline was a meta nod to Taylor’s lyrics on the song, which call back to the very podcast the brothers are mic’ed up for: “New Heights of manhood / I ain’t gotta knock on wood.”

“I don’t know what the fuck that means, but she’s disappointed. What’s that mean? What’s a ‘man-hoodie’? Is that a thing?” Jason added, to which Travis also responded in confusion, “Man-hoodie?”

It wasn’t until the pod’s producer jumped in, saying, “It’s a Life of a Showgirl reference, come on. ‘New Heights of manhood,’ it’s the time you were referenced in the album.”

Of course, Travis was disappointed he didn’t catch on to the joke sooner, playfully adding, “I didn’t understand that. Taylor’s gonna kill me for not knowing that!”

Jason then came to his defense, saying, “We’re not as good with the Easter eggs as these Swifties. They sure know how to plant ‘em and call ‘em out.”

When TLOAS dropped last October, Taylor admitted that the NSFW song initially came from an “innocent place.”

I brought this into the studio and I was like, ‘I wanna do sort of like a throwback kind of timeless-sounding song,’” she explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, adding, “And I had this idea about, ‘I ain’t gotta knock on wood,’ and I would knock on wood and it would be all these superstitions. And it really started out in a very innocent place.”

“I don’t know what happened, man,” she continued. “I got in there, we started vibing and I don’t know, I don’t know how we got here. But I love the song so much.”

All this ^^^ simply proves that “Wood” is the gift that keeps giving, and we’ll be holding out for that “man-hoodie” to make an appearance in the Kelce Clubhouse in the near future.
