- David Beckham just reflected on his kids making "mistakes" on social media.
- The soccer player gave an interview less than a day after Brooklyn's statement accusing him and Victoria of trying to "ruin" his relationship.
- David stressed that it's important to use social media for the"right reasons."
In a case of truly awkward timing, David Beckham just gave a live interview on CNBC's Squawk Box, and was asked about kids using social media. And he made some comments that are hard (basically impossible) not to read into.
"I’ve always spoken about social media and the power of social media — for the good and for the bad," David said less than 24 hours after his son, Brooklyn Beckham, released a lengthy statement about his parents on Instagram. "What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well: Use it for the right reasons."
The former soccer player added (via Us Weekly), "I’ve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF. And it’s been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children. And I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. So, that’s what I try to teach my kids, but you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well."
Hmmmm.
