- The 83rd Annual Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11.
- The guest list was stacked with A-listers like Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Grande, but Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were noticeably absent.
- Here’s why Taylor and Travis skipped the 2026 Golden Globes (and after parties).
Though the 2026 Golden Globes were a star-studded affair, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce missed out on the festivities alongside friends like Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. The couple didn’t pull up to any after parties, either, but hear us out: They had a pretty valid reason.
For starters, neither of them was nominated for awards this year, though Trav gave a stellar performance in Happy Gilmore 2 and his New Heights podcast was technically eligible for the show’s newest Best Podcast category.
Just because the fiancés weren’t at the Globes doesn’t mean they weren’t in L.A. A few days before the ceremony, several celebs like Sombr, Danielle Haim, and Este Haim were photographed holding the Grammy winner’s famous homemade sourdough as they left on January 10. Though Tay wasn’t pictured, her bread was, which means she likely attended the outing, too.
As for Travis, he’s remained relatively low-key since the Kansas City Chiefs’ NFL season ended on January 4. After their final game, he admitted that he would be “a regular human for a couple weeks” and “figure out what I’m gonna do next in terms of my future in football” on the January 7 episode of New Heights.
There have been no official updates regarding his potential retirement from the league, but an Us Weekly source revealed that he might have a future with Netflix as “their exclusive broadcast sports correspondent” on January 8. The deal is allegedly “still being finalized, but discussions are well underway.”
Taylor last attended the Golden Globes in 2024, where her Eras Tour movie was nominated in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. She and Travis ended up skipping last year’s show for some well-deserved R&R after their respective runs on the Eras Tour and during the Chiefs’ last football season.
