- Two months after allegations surfaced that Outer Banks co-creator Jonas Pate grabbed and yelled at a female production assistant, his daughter Lilah Pate publicly defended him on TikTok.

- Neither Netflix nor Jonas Pate has commented on the allegations.
It’s been two months since the news broke that Outer Banks co-creator and director Jonas Pate had allegedly “grabbed” and “was screaming at” a female production assistant, and now his daughter is finally speaking out. Lilah Pate (who plays Sophie in the Prime Video series The Runarounds, also created by her father) took to TikTok on December 19 to share a video from her dad’s last days of filming Outer Banks season 5.
“The face of a dude who just wrapped OBX. Champion,” she captioned her post. And when a fan slid into the comments section to ask, “Did he yell at you like he did the employees after this queen?” Lilah came to her dad’s defense, responding with, “Don’t believe everything you see online.”
On October 22, TMZ reported that Jonas allegedly “put his hands on a production assistant and shook her while shouting in her face,” and reportedly, Outer Banks star Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline both “jumped in to de-escalate the situation.”
Per TMZ, sources noted that “tensions were high” on set but the outburst was not “unusual behavior” for Jonas, with one insider adding, “It’s about time that it’s made public.”
A source for People weighed in soon after, claiming, Jonas “was screaming at the female production assistant and grabbed her by her shoulders and shook her. He didn’t hurt her or try to hurt her. He just crossed a line. Putting your hands on someone is never, ever okay.”
Neither Netflix nor Jonas has responded to the allegations.
Jonas created Outer Banks with his twin brother, Josh Pate, and their colleague, Shannon Burke, with the series premiering on Netflix back in April 2020. Since then, the show has resulted in its fair share of offscreen drama, from Chase and Madelyn’s tumultuous relationship to Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey’s rumored feud.
Production just wrapped on the fifth and final season, but there’s no word yet on when Outer Banks season 5 will hit Netflix.
