• Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, lost a game to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 14, which eliminated them from the NFL playoffs.

  • Now, Travis is getting candid and breaking his silence on the Chiefs’ elimination on his New Heights podcast.

Travis Kelce is keeping it 100 after his team recently faced a historic loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers’ win on Sunday, December 14, marked the first time the Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs in 12 years. It also happens to be Travis’ 13th season in the league, since he was drafted in 2013. (It seems the invisible string theory is strong with this one.)

The tight end has broken his silence on the team’s challenges, including Patrick Mahomes’ season-ending injury, during the latest episode of his New Heights podcast.

“We got three games left… The integrity of who you are as a professional, as a player, you gotta love this shit, man. And Chiefs Kingdom, we’re gonna give you everything we got. There’s no question about that,” he told listeners during the December 17 episode.

He continued, “There’s only one way I do things, there’s only one way Coach Reid does things, and if we’re gonna go out there and play some football, we’re gonna do it the right way and keep trying to get these things fixed and end on the highest note we can.”

As for how he’s been feeling since the loss, Travis admitted, “You know, it’s obviously fucked up, but it’s a new feeling. So all I know is to go out there and play my ass off and to show up, and you know, give my guys the best chance to win. And I think that’s the mentality.

“There’s an integrity thing here that when you sign up for the gig, you’re living out your dreams, you’re living out a kid’s dream that never got a chance to do this. You’re playing this game, obviously to win Super Bowls. You’re playing this game to be in those playoff scenarios and stuff, but at the end of the day, man, you’re playing in the NFL. And that’s a fucking blessing. That’s an honor.”

His updates come a few days following the Chiefs’ loss, as he declined to speak to the press after the game. “Sorry, guys. It’s not the time,” he said, per Us Weekly. In footage captured by sports anchor McKenzie Nelson, the Happy Gilmore 2 star also looked visibly upset as he walked through the stadium.

Thankfully, he still had the support of his fiancée, Taylor Swift, who cheered him on at Arrowhead Stadium while hanging with his family, Donna Kelce and Kylie Kelce.

Above all else, Travis is keeping his spirits high as he still has love for the game.

“It’s an honor to be out there, it’s an honor to feel the soreness after a game because you were actually out there. You’re fucking doing it,” he shared. “And no matter if you’re getting the fucking ball thrown to you, no matter if you’re blocking your tail off…it’s an honor to be out there in a uniform, playing for the guys around you, playing for your family, playing for the people back home that are watching you, that have known you since you were a little kid dreaming about this moment.”
