- Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly “struggling” with where to spend Christmas.
- Per sources, the York sisters are caught between loyalty to their exiled parents and an invitation from King Charles to Sandringham.
- The sisters recently faced a similar dilemma about whether to attend Kate Middleton’s Christmas carol service.
While it was previously reported that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would spend the holidays away from their parents, it seems the York sisters are actually “struggling with Christmas” plans. According to the Daily Mail, Beatrice and Eugenie are facing a “tug-of-love” dilemma after being invited by King Charles to spend Christmas at Sandringham, as “they are equally devoted to their parents” and “it falls to the princesses to soothe family divisions.”
The source noted that Beatrice, in particular, feels she “has to be in three places at once” on Christmas Day: with the rest of the royals at the King’s Norfolk estate; with her father (the disgraced ex-prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) at Royal Lodge; and with her mother, husband, and children at her new Cotswolds home.
“Unless she makes a decision to pick one side and one side only, she will spend a lot of time in the car,” the insider added.
Eugenie, reportedly, is feeling a little less pressure over where to spend Christmas this year, as she at least has the excuse of her place in Portugal. “Eugenie was tempted to stay in Portugal with her family and husband Jack Brooksbank,” said the source, adding, “She is so settled there, far from all the drama.”
The York sisters recently faced a similar dilemma over Kate Middleton’s fifth annual “Together at Christmas” carol event, to which Beatrice and Eugenie were invited but chose not to attend.
Eugenie later took to her Instagram Stories to show support, writing, “Wish Bea and I could have been celebrating tonight with our family. Wishing @princeandprincessofwales such a special evening at her incredible carol service. What an amazing message of hope.”
And just last week, Beatrice surprised the public by inviting both the former prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson to the christening of her youngest daughter, Athena.
As the Daily Mail said of the invitation, “Beatrice has, of course invited her father. But things are not warm between them. However, she’s worried about him. He’s going through a low ebb with his mental health and she recognizes that he dotes on his grandchildren and it would be cruel to deprive him of the chance to attend the christening.”
Speaking of royal Christmas drama...
