There's been a lot of conflicting information and speculation about whether or not Meghan Markle has reached out to her father, Thomas Markle, amid his recent hospitalization and emergency leg amputation. And the Duchess of Sussex's rep just cleared things up, confirming that yes: she has written a letter to Thomas and it was delivered safely to him.

"With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands," they said.

Per People, Meghan emailed her father on December 5, but kept her attempt at outreach private until reports that Thomas had not heard from her. She then called several hospitals in an attempt to find him—which fortunately ended up being successful.

A source previously told Rob Shuter's ShuterScoop that Prince Harry was heavily involved in Meghan's decision to reach out to her estranged dad, saying "Harry knows estrangement. He made peace with his dad; now he wants Meghan to have the same chance. He’s been saying, 'Don’t wait, do it now.'"

Meghan has spoken about her relationship with Thomas, in the past, telling Oprah that reconciling his lies about staging pap pics was difficult.

"I said, 'I just need you to tell me and if you tell me the truth, we can help,' and he wasn't able to do that," she said. "That, for me, has really resonated, especially now as a mother... I look at Archie, I think about this child [on the way], and I genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child. I can't imagine it. So it's hard for me to reconcile that."
