ICYMI, Miley Cyrus is currently living her best life amid her recent engagement to boyfriend fiancé, Maxx Morando. But apart from looking utterly fabulous on the red carpet and gushing about her man on the late night circuit, the pop star is also working on her bond with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, who—despite their rocky relationship in recent years—had nothing but nice things to say about Miley and Maxx taking the next step.

Following Miley's big news (which she revealed by sporting a ring on left ring finger at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere on in Los Angeles on Dec. 1) Billy Ray took to social media on Dec. 3 and sweetly congratulated his daughter on her engagement.

"No wonder you turned out so special … You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!!" Billy Ray captioned a throwback picture of him with Miley and her iconic godmother, Dolly Parton, from the 2010s.

"So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!!" he added. "Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!!"

Billy Ray's post comes amid thawing tensions in the Cyrus family. As a lil refresher: the Cyrus family dynamic took a major shift after Billy Ray and Miley's mother, Tish, divorced in 2022. Tish later married Prison Break star Dominic Purcell in August of 2023 and all seemed fine on the surface—Miley, Brandi, and Trace Cyrus were even at the wedding and in their mom's bridal party—but Noah and Braison Cyrus were not, leading fans to believe they sided with Billy Ray.

By 2024, Miley won record of the year for "Flowers" (who can forget her INCREDIBLE night??) but notably left her dad out of her acceptance speech for the award. A source later told Us Weekly that Billy Ray reached out to congratulate her on the win, but was unsuccessful.

“He’s tried reaching out to Miley many times and congratulated her on her Grammys,” the insider said. “The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever. Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs. Miley’s very close with her mom and is standing by her.”

A second source made it clear that Miley wasn't going to let her dad back into her life that easily, saying that she “hasn’t gotten over the disrespect she feels Billy Ray showed Tish and the family.”

But this year, Miley offered Billy Ray an olive branch in the form of a song—she released "Secrets" featuring Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood in September, revealing it was "written as a peace offering for someone I had lost a time but always loved...this song is for my dad."

In time time since, Miley and Billy Ray appear to be on good terms. On the red carpet for Avatar: Fire and Ash, she told E! that her dad was "really honored" to have the track written about him.

"That's the fun thing about putting out music for someone that you love," she added. "It's adding onto his legacy by attaching this song to him." Looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Billy Ray at Miley's wedding! ❤️
