Six months after calling it quits, The Bachelor’s Juliana Pasquarosa is finally opening up about why she and Grant Ellis called off their three-month engagement. During a December 2 appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Juliana explained why she’s kept quiet about the split up until now, saying, “Grant and I have tried our very best to kind of keep a lot of things under wraps just because I know that he cares about me and I do care about him and I don’t want him to have any negative backlash by any means.”
That said! She went on to add, “I think there’s a little bit of clarity due here.” According to Juliana, that wild moment from the After the Final Rose special with runner-up Litia Garr (when she claimed that Grant had called Litia his “number one emotional connection”) ended up having a lasting impact on Juliana and Grant’s relationship.
“When we woke up, the first thing he said to me was he had game-planned different ways we could announce our breakup,” Juliana recalled of the time following Litia’s confession. “And I hadn’t even made that decision on my end.”
As you might recall, immediately following ATFR, Juliana was asked how she felt about Litia’s bombshell, and her answer was...surprisingly chill? “I did feel so strong, but I also was aware that there was another girl involved,” she told People at the time in reference to Litia. “She must feel as secure as I do to stay in it this long. It was nervousness from my end, but I also just felt so secure that I was like, it’s a 50-50 chance here.”
She continued, “Litia is such an amazing person. I think it just comes down to what type of life you wanted to live afterwards. I know Litia’s timeframe for settling down is different than mine was, but it’s comparison-by-circumstance. That doesn’t take anything away from me, and I hope that that doesn’t take anything away from her.”
Sadly, by June, she and Grant had announced their decision to call off their engagement...but at least it seems there’s no bad blood. As Juliana said of Grant on the Trading Secrets podcast back in August, “I want to see him succeed and I will always support him. I think he’s a really great, genuine guy, and I can tell he’s supporting me from afar.”
