The “End of the World” singer also officially confirmed their engagement during an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday, December 3.

“Yes, there’s more congrats,” she said, adding, “My life has been perfectly aligned with the release of Avatar and my personal life. Those two things, I guess you can say, marrying each other and harmonizing with one another.”

When asked how Maxx’s proposal went, Miley revealed that he had fully surprised her during a recent trip to Asia.

She confirmed that he got down on one knee, saying, “I’m not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation, and I had completely surrendered. And I’m telling you, I was so, so, so surprised.”

While most fans didn’t notice Miley’s new sparkler until her December 1 red carpet appearance, she actually sneakily debuted her ring back in November with a series of photos posted to Instagram from what appeared to be a birthday dinner. As it turns out, Maxx’s dad was also at that dinner, as he later posted some pics from that same night to social media to congratulate Miley and Maxx on their engagement.

The couple has been romantically linked since 2021, and even worked on Miley’s Grammy-nominated album, Something Beautiful, together.

Miley previously gushed about the proposal at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere, telling People, “The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice. I think it’s also being older, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
