• Prince William and Prince Harry's feud allegedly dates back to drama over Princess Diana's engagement ring.
  • Prince William asked for the ring and proposed to Kate Middleton with it.
  • Sources claim Harry's had regrets over letting go of the sentimental piece.

Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana's iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring—and apparently it's the origin of some major drama with Prince Harry.

Sources tell Rob Shuter's #ShuterScoop that Harry regrets letting William propose with the ring—confirming that William requested the ring after Princess Diana's death "and got it."

"Harry realized the ring represented more than jewelry—it represented Diana, legacy, and symbolism," a source says. "He even raised the idea that William should compensate him for half of its $75,000 value. It didn’t go over well."

A senior royal staffer adds, "If you trace the feud back to its true beginning, it’s the ring. That’s where everything quietly snapped."

Harry actually spoke about the ring in Spare, saying, "The papers published florid stories about the moment I realized Willy and Kate were well matched, the moment I appreciated the depth of their love and thus decided to gift Willy the ring I’d inherited from Mummy, the legendary sapphire."

"A tender moment between brothers, a bonding moment for all three of us, and absolute rubbish: none of it ever happened," he wrote. "I never gave Willy that ring because it wasn’t mine to give. He had already had it. He’d asked for it after Mummy died, and I’d been more than happy to let it go."

Just FYI!
