• Halsey was groped by a concertgoer while performing on stage during her Back to Badlands tour stop in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 4.
  • Clips of the incident have gone viral across social media platforms like TikTok, and fans are outraged on the Grammy-nominated singer’s behalf.
  • It seems that Halsey may have subtly responded to the situation without addressing it head-on.

Halsey is currently in the thick of their Back to Badlands Tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Tumblr-era debut album, and the singer is no stranger to being close with longtime fans. However, things took a turn when a concertgoer in the pit violated and groped the “Colors” singer mid-performance.

During their show at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., on November 4, someone in the front row slid their hand up their skirt and grabbed their butt. The footage is kind of definitely uncomfy, so watch at your own discretion:

As TikTok creator Sloan Hooks put it in his recap, it seems like Halsey didn’t even notice what was going on as they carried on with their performance of “Is There Somewhere.”

Naturally, longtime fans of the Grammy-nominated artist came to their defense in several comment sections across the internet, writing, “Whattt what how are people so comfortable doing this to others?” while another added, “Fans these days are outta control.”

Someone else chimed in, referring to Halsey’s young son, Ender: “That is someone’s MOTHER!!”

This incident is only the latest example of fans getting too close for comfort. You might recall how, just a few weeks earlier, a person on the barricade at a Billie Eilish concert violently dragged the singer down toward the crowd during her show in Miami.

After their show on November 4, Halsey shared a series of social media posts, celebrating the performance and Zohran Mamdani’s historic win in the New York City mayoral race. The artist seemed to be in good spirits, writing, “I’m zoooooomin right now off of those 3 nights in a row. god damn. DC I hope you could tell I saved up lots of energy and brought it just for you.”

And while Halsey didn’t address the groping head-on, the About-Face founder shared another post that may have subtly referenced it.

Ahead of their next tour date in Minneapolis, they referenced their politically-charged anthem for young women, “Nightmare,” which boasts lyrics like “‘Come on, little lady, give us a smile’ / No, I ain’t got nothin’ to smile about / I got no one to smile for, I waited a while for / A moment to say I don’t owe you a goddamn thing.”

“I really hope nightmare goes extra hard at the armory tomorrow. You guys basically own that song,” Halsey shared.

They have yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
