- Chrishell Stause confirmed she’s leaving Selling Sunset after nine seasons, explaining that the show’s constant drama has taken too much of a toll on her.
- Her decision was finalized after the season 9 reunion, which she described as “brutal”
- This isn’t her first exit threat—after season 8, she vowed never to work with costar Nicole Young again, though both ultimately returned for season 9.
After a drama-filled nine-season run, it’s beginning to seem like Chrishell Stause won’t be returning to Selling Sunset (even if it is officially renewed for season 10). The reason? She just can’t take the drama anymore. Rumors about her departure first started circulating after she seemingly unfollowed all her Selling Sunset costars (save for Chelsea Lazkani) on Instagram, and in a new interview with Bustle published on November 7, she finally confirmed her decision.
“I’ve vacillated back and forth with this decision in the past,” she said. “I have to be honest—having come from nothing, it’s really hard to turn something like this down.” That said, Chrishell confirmed that—at this point—not even “Jesus Christ himself” could make her come back for another season (and neither can Selling Sunset creator Adam DiVello, who’s apparently been calling and texting Chrishell “100 times a day”).
“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” she continued. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”
So...what allowed Chrishell to finally make up her mind? It seems her breaking point was the season 9 reunion, which was filmed back in August. “I think, after so many hours, I felt like, ‘Sit here, get through it. You’re not a quitter, but you never have to do this again,’” she told Bustle. “‘And I promise you, to your soul, you won’t.’”
She expressed a similar sentiment during a recent interview with Variety, explaining, “The reunion was so brutal. In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile.”
That! Said! Keep in mind that this isn’t the first time Chrishell has threatened to leave the show. After season 8 dropped on Netflix in September 2024, the reality star wrote on Instagram that she “will NEVER work on a show” with Nicole Young again and “would rather be sued” than return.
Soon after, during an interview with ExtraTV, Chrishell doubled down on her claims, confirming that it was “either she goes or [I] go.”
Still, both Chrishell and Nicole ended up returning for season 9, so perhaps Chrishell will change her mind again!
