After four long seasons of being tortured by the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer, Vecna, and every other vile creature to emerge from the Upside Down, I think we can all agree that Will Byers deserves a break. And maybe a little romance, too. Actor Noah Schnapp teased Will's romantic future in Stranger Things 5, finally addressing the Byler ship.

Noah acknowledged all the Byler fans on TikTok (aka fans who want Mike Wheeler and Will to get together). Responding to the comment, “Is Byler happening or not?” in a video shared on Monday, October 27, Noah said, “You guys love saying this. And I never listen.” He continued, “It's probably the most commented comment in all my late-night videos. And I always ignore it.”

Based on Noah's comments, it doesn't sound like Byler will actually happen anytime soon, but fans can still hope! While the couple likely won't ever get together—Mike is pretty deep in love with Elle—fans can't seem to stop campaigning for it. And it's easy to see why.

In the show, Will and Mike have been best friends since they were in Kindergarten, and in season 4, when hints about Will's sexuality really came to the forefront, the two shared a scene that heavily implied that Will had a crush on Mike. That scene in particular prompted Noah to confirm that Will is gay in an interview with Variety in 2022, which in turn spawned the Byler ship.

Going into Stranger Things season 5, Will is still in the closet, but there have been hints that he'll get to explore his sexuality in the coming season. “Will really takes center stage again in 5,” said co-creator Ross Duffer in an interview with Variety. “This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together.” Ross kept things vague, adding, “Part of his journey, it's not just sexuality—it's Will coming into his own as a young man.”

The first four episodes of Stranger Things 5 will hit Netflix on November 26.
