If you’re a Selling Sunset fan, then you’re probably all too familiar with the long-standing feud between Bre Tiesi and Chelsea Lazkani. What may not be as clear to you, however, is the ongoing feud between former besties Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan—especially since it’s all taken place off-camera. But now that season 9 is here, we’re learning more about their fight...and it has a lot (if not everything) to do with Emma’s on-and-off-again boyfriend, Blake Davis.

So...when did Chrishell and Emma start fighting? What caused their falling out? And what does Blake have to do with all of it? Let’s get into it, starting with...

Emma is first spotted with a mystery man in July 2024

A TikTok showing Emma hand-in-hand with a mystery man at an L.A. restaurant goes viral.

Said guy is later identified as real estate agent and developer Blake Davis, who—for the record—has been posting pics of Emma on IG since April 2024 (and per Blake, they first got together in December 2023):

Chrishell admits she “didn’t like” the man Emma was dating during season 8

Selling Sunset season 8 drops in September 2024, introducing a storyline where Nicole Young accused Emma of sleeping with a married client. Apparently, this led to Blake (who was supposed to appear in season 8) getting his scenes cut.

Following the season 8 premiere, Chrishell takes to Instagram to share a series of photos taken on the “days of filming [that] didn’t make it” into the show...including a moment where Chrishell met someone Emma had been seeing.

“A scene where Emma introduced us to who she actually WAS dating [didn’t make it],” Chrishell writes of the moment. “This was pretty funny bc I didn’t like him. So maybe it’s for the best.” For the record: Selling Sunset season 8 was filmed from January 2024 to March 2024, so the person she’s referencing is almost definitely Blake.

Emma spills more tea on Blake in December 2024

During an interview with Us Weekly, Emma opens up about Blake getting his scenes cut from season 8 following Nicole’s affair accusation. “I was very grateful because he knew what happened and what they did to me. He was super upset and very supportive and felt awful for me,” she says of her boyfriend (though she doesn’t name him). “Especially because he went and filmed and put himself out there as well, and they cut everything.”

She adds, “I have been super private about my relationships my entire life. Even before the show, I’ve always been a private person when it comes to relationships. But producers came to me and they said that they really wanted to see my love life and who I’m dating. I opened up my life, and what happened was the complete opposite from what we filmed.”

Chrishell and Emma are last spotted together at Beyoncé

The former besties attend Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour together on May 1, and all seems well.

But then...

Chrishell confirms feud rumors in May 2025

Blake drops a photo dump in honor of his 28th birthday, which includes plenty of loved-up pics with Emma:

Soon after, following weeks of little interaction between the two friends, a fan slides into Chrishell’s comments to ask, “What’s happening with you and Emma?”

Chrishell’s response? “Ask her about her MAGA bf who told me pronouns are dumb and that he likes to use the N word. I just can’t with that. Too old to allow that in. But love her from afar.”

Blake then speaks to the Daily Mail to give his side of the story, claiming he’s only met Chrishell “a handful of times,” with the last meeting taking place “a year-and-a-half ago.”

According to him, the only “real conversation” he and Chrishell ever had was when Blake “regretfully referred to G Flip” as Chrishell’s “wife.” He adds, “Ms. Stause corrected me that they were partners and that G Flip goes by the pronoun them. Since, I have respectfully used the preferred pronouns.”

What’s more: Blake reveals that he and Emma have been together since December 2023 and “aside from a few breaks we have taken due to distance and other personal issues, we remain committed to each other.”

Sources claim Emma and Blake split (again) in July 2025

TMZ breaks the news that Emma and Blake have called it quits following his “public feud” with Chrishell. Per sources, “Emma saw a side of him that turned her all the way off.”

Emma later confirms the news herself with a TikTok, which she captions, “POV: You’re single for the summer getting your passport stamped.”

Emma and Blake are seemingly back on in September 2025

Emma posts a TikTok of herself and Blake doing a “couples challenge” in late September...so, it seems they’re together again.

Blake even comments, “Love u even when you make me do weird ticktok stuff idk what im doing.”

Oh, and when a fan comments to ask whether Emma is “taken,” she replies, “I am ❤.”

Selling Sunset season 9 drops in October 2025

In October, Blake seemingly goes off on Chrishell in a series of Instagram Stories (as captured in this Reddit thread), which includes—among other things—a poll asking whether Blake should “sue the bitch for lying her dick off about me” in reference to Chrishell. Um????

Soon after, Netflix releases the Selling Sunset season 9 trailer, which teases plenty of tension between Chrishell and Emma over her “old flame” Blake, who Chrishell refers to as a “child.”

At one point, Chrishell asks Emma to clarify whether she and Blake are “together or not together,” and in another scene, Emma goes jewelry shopping with Chelsea, where she tries on a $2 million engagement ring (!!).

Later, when Chelsea asks Emma what she will tell Chrishell if she and Blake get engaged, Emma responds, “She fucking hates him.”

The season ends (spoiler!) with Emma and Blake splitting, but keep in mind that the latest season was filmed primarily between late 2024 and early 2025...and as we now know, the two ended up getting back together again when cameras stopped rolling.

Oh, and if there is any lingering doubt about their current relationship status, Blake drops this pic of himself and Emma looking coupley in Turks and Caicos just a few days before season 9 premieres:

Chrishell reveals exactly where she and Emma stand now

During an interview with Variety, Chrishell spills AAAAALL the tea, including where she and Emma stand now. Oh, and according to her: “A lot” of context about Blake was “left out” of season 9.

“When I met him, there were so many red flags that happened in one short meeting,” she says, later adding, “I found real things to be dangerous with his personality. He recently posted about how he was going to sue my dick off. This isn’t a normal person. Anybody who meets this man is not going to want their friend to date him. Of course, he wasn’t like that on camera. He acted one way to me. Then, he came on camera and flipped the script.”

She continues, “He just would say these extremely problematic things. I have a deep core issue with people who think that way, so it was upsetting. Even though he was being nice, he compared people being nonbinary to mental illness. That’s my partner, whom I love dearly.”

Chrishell goes on to explain that Emma distanced herself from Chrishell as a result of her relationship with Blake. “For a long time, I tried to have a lot of sympathy for her and be there for her,” she says. “I tried to do all the things as a friend. She would call and tell me how scared she was of this, or when they would break up, she would tell me the worst things that he would do. Like any friend, I’m there for her and helped her through it. Then she goes right back to him. She’s posting from his yacht and not answering my call.”

In conclusion: “At first, I put all of it on him. She was kind of innocent in it. Over time, I had to understand that they are aligned, and that is her choice. But it’s not something that I want in my life... I don’t want to be friends with her anymore. She’s made it very clear what her morals are, and we do not align.”

Oh, and it doesn’t end there! For Emma’s response (and Chrishell’s rebuttal), keep reading, below.

Chrishell and Emma continue to argue about Blake at the Selling Sunset season 9 reunion.

At the season 9 reunion—filmed in August—Chrishell claimed, among other things, that Blake told her he “openly uses the N-word” when singing along to music and “thinks if people are singing the lyrics and they don't say it then they are too woke.”

Emma denied the claim, but it seemed like her real issue with Chrishell wasn't that she exposed Blake on social media, but that doing so—especially when she called him MAGA—led to Emma getting hate online. “I don't think Blake is super appropriate, but what was put online was not how he said it. He never said he was MAGA. He never said his political views,” Emma said in part.

For what it's worth, Chrishell isn't the only cast member to have issues with Blake. Jason called Blake and Emma's relationship a “toxic cycle,” while Chelsea said that she felt Emma had been “emotionally manipulated” by him. Still, after some prompting from the group, Chrishell apologized for exposing him on social media.

“What he said, I'm sorry I repeated it on social media. I was extremely disappointed that you would still date someone with those views for over a year and half,” she said, adding that she “tried as hard as I could” to be there for Emma. She later clarified that, at the time of the Instagram comment, she didn't consider herself friends with Emma anymore.

Emma appreciated the apology, but said that it still felt like Chrishell had kicked her while she was down. And she accused Chrishell of inciting online hate towards her by calling out her on-and-off again boyfriend's political views. “You are attacking my character by associating me with a person that I was struggling with,” she said.
