Taylor Frankie Paul is ABC's new Bachelorette, and it's truly The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives x Bachelor Nation crossover I've been dreaming of.

But in the event that you aren't a SLOMW fan (respectfully, why?), there's a lot of lore to catch up on when it comes to Taylor and her former relationships. Much of which has helpfully already been captured on camera—both on TV and on TikTok! Here's everything you need to know about Tay's exes Tate Paul and Dakota Mortensen, not to mention the "mystery man" she was seeing pre Bach.

Tate Paul: 2016 to 2022

Taylor and Tate were married from 2016 to 2022, and have two kids together. But things ended after the now-infamous Mormon TikTok "Soft Swinging" Scandal™.

Tate is pretty much entirely out of the public eye, but he's remarried with more kids and he and Taylor seem to get on...fine?

In 2024, she told Distractify, "My ex is doing great as far as I know. I love him and his partner, [who is his] fiancée, I believe." She added, "We see each other weekly. We're at soccer games, so we're really good co-parents, so we're, like, good friends, and I just really want him to be happy."

Dakota Mortensoen: 2022 to 2025

Taylor and Dakota started dating shortly after her divorce, and their breakup has been messy to say the least (anyone who's watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is welllll aware).

Taylor was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors after an altercation with Dakota in February 2023, but they stayed together and went on to have a child. There have been multiple breakups and cheating allegations since then, and the pair split for good in early 2025. But the drama seemingly continues—just recently Taylor hopped onto Instagram Stories and wrote (it's since been deleted) "Just found out the snake in the middle IS sleeping with my baby daddy, meanwhile crying to me because she just got dumped by a married man. These desperate girls will do desperate things."

She added, "Anyone praying for my downfall please just stay the fuck away from me AND anyone associated with these people moving forward also stay tf away from me. Want to be friends with desperate snakes, you’ll be no friend of mine."

Mystery Guitar Man: 2025

Back in September, Taylor posted a bunch of pics on Instagram captioned "Life’s a little lighter when you’re surrounded by a village and someone who can sing your favorite songs to you." And she included a photo of a new guy (it's since been deleted, sorry!). Interesting timing, since she was announced as Bachelorette just a few days later...

So, were they dating? Tay said on Call Her Daddy, "It wasn't a soft launch, whatever. I've met the guy twice, and so...likable guy. He's great. Are we official? No, I don't know the guy, right? Is it a relationship? Nothing along those lines of, like, people soft launch. I don't know him."

She added that they might connect post-Bachelorette: "He was like, go do your thing, if you meet someone, we weren't meant to be, and if not, maybe I'll be here."
