Victoria Beckham's new documentary, aptly named Victoria Beckham, just dropped on Netflix, giving viewers an inside look at just how Victoria runs her global beauty and fashion empire. The Spice Girl gets extremely candid about the production and costs of her brand, but one expense we were not expecting to be brought up? Her office plants.
Yes, that's right. During the third episode of the series, Victoria opens up about how her company was in the red back in 2016, adding: “We were tens of millions in the red,” before revealing she and husband David Beckham looked for outside investment for the company.
It's then we're introduced to her business partner David Belhassen, who was inspired to get involved in the company after seeing his wife in one of Victoria's designs.
He then revealed as part of his assessment of the business one of the many extravagances Victoria had was paying nearly $100,000 for her office plants.
“For years she had people telling her what she wanted to hear,” he said. “I remember one of the expenses was the office plants. 'Cause she loves plants. And it was costing like £70,000 a year. And then there was someone who was coming to water the plants for £15,000 a year.”
Yes, we all know plants can be expensive, but £70,000 (roughly $93,000)? We need to know what plants filled that office.
It's perhaps quite surprising to hear of Victoria's love of plants, given it seems to be David who is the more green-thumbed of the pair.
Over the years he's shown off his vegetable patches in the couple's garden, most recently sharing a video of the carrots and radishes he's grown in the patch.
Maybe David could grow Victoria some plants for her office for a bargain?
Victoria Beckham is available on Netflix now.
