Bennifer may be no more, but that doesn’t mean Jennifer Lopez is exempt from answering questions about her ex on national television. (Brutal, we know.)

During an October 6 appearance on The Today Show, J.Lo was caught off guard while promoting her new movie, Kiss of a Spider Woman. Host Craig Melvin segued the conversation into her public split from Ben Affleck, saying, “In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized, with Ben…”

She then cut him off to dodge the question, saying, “There you go! Look at this guy!”

J.Lo executive-produced the film alongside her ex, and she kept things cordial when the convo took a turn. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made. And I will always give him that credit,” she said, before clarifying that their split didn’t impact the film’s production.

“Yeah, things happen, you have to keep going,” she continued, later adding that making the movie helped her through a “difficult” moment in her personal life.

“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she shared. “Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”

Hours after her A.M. appearance on the talk show, Jennifer pulled up to the New York City premiere of the movie, where she reunited with Ben on the red carpet. Things seemed good between the pair as they posed for photos alongside her co-star, Tonatiuh.

As a reminder: Bennifer (round one, anyway) first became a thing in 2002, when the actors met on the set of their movie, Gigli. They eventually got engaged in 2004 before calling it off and pursuing other relationships with Jennifer Garner and Marc Anthony, respectively.

Nearly 20 years later, Bennifer was back for round two as they got married in July 2022. In 2024, they filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences and settled their final split in February 2025.
