It’s no secret that Taylor Swift loves to pen songs about her lovers both during and after their relationships (pls see all the songs she’s written about Joe Alywn...and John Mayer...and Matty Healy...). The latest lover to get the lyrical treatment? Her fiancé, Travis Kelce, who—after being alluded to on a few The Tortured Poets Department songs—has seemingly now inspired half the songs of The Life of a Showgirl.
Curious to see how many odes have been dedicated to the baller? Here’s a complete list of the nine songs Taylor Swift has (seemingly) written about Travis Kelce over the course of their two-year-old whirlwind relationship.
The Tortured Poets Department
“The Alchemy”
How about Travis it is: 100 percent. Between all the football references and the nod to her English ex-boyfriends, Matty Healy and Joe Alwyn (“These blokes warm the benches / We’ve been on a winning streak”), this song has Travis written all over it.
Most Travis lyric: “Shirts off, and your friends lift you up, over their heads / Beer stickin’ to the floor, cheers chanted ’cause they said / ‘There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league’ / Where’s the trophy? He just comes, running over to me.”
“Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus”
How about Travis it is: Slightly. Though fans have theorized that this song is largely about her Matty Healy breakup and the messy aftermath, Taylor does make a brief allusion to her new relationship with Travis (who, as a football-playing jock, could possibly be seen as a quintessential high school bully).
Most Travis lyric: “And you saw my bones out with somebody new / Who seemed like he would’ve bullied you in school.”
“So High School”
How about Travis it is: Completely. This whole song is giving, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” (which is, of course, what she captioned her engagement announcement on Instagram). It even references a 2016 interview Travis did where he was asked who he would marry, kiss and kill between her, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry.
Most Travis lyric: “Truth, dare, spin bottles / You know how to ball, I know Aristotle / Brand new, full throttle / Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto.”
The Life of a Showgirl
“The Fate of Ophelia”
How about Travis it is: Totally. While Tay starts off singing about how she swore her loyalty to “me, myself, and I” while she sat “alone in [her] tower,” she then goes on to describe how she was “saved” from Ophelia’s traumatic fate by a new love. And the “keep it one hundred”? A clear reference to this Instagram post caption (not to mention Taylor’s lucky number, 13, plus Travis’ uniform number, 87, equals 100).
Most Travis lyric/reference: “Keep it one hundred / On the land, the sea, the sky / Pledge allegiance to your hands / Your team, your vibes.”
“Elizabeth Taylor”
How about Travis it is: Partially. While this song (which also serves as an ode to the titular Hollywood star) is about how Tay’s ex-lovers bailed under the pressures of the spotlight (ahem, Joe Alwyn), she also expresses hope that Trav is in it for the long haul.
Most Travis lyric/reference: “All the right guys / Promised they’d stay / Under bright lights / They withered away / But you bloom.”
“Opalite”
How about Travis it is: Without a doubt. The lyrics kick off with Taylor admitting that she used to think about her exes a lot before she finally met the right person...and while she doesn’t mention Trav by name, it seems worth mentioning that opal is his birthstone. Oh, and the song also seemingly alludes to one of Travis’ exes.
Most Travis lyric/reference: “You couldn’t understand it / Why you felt alone / You were in it for real / She was in her phone.”
“Wi$h Li$t”
How about Travis it is: Very. This one is all about how Tay doesn’t need the “yacht life” and “bright lights” to feel happy—she just “want[s] you” (and presumably, that “you” is Travis).
Most Travis lyric/reference: “I just want you / Have a couple kids / Got the whole block looking like you / We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone...and they do / Wow / Got me dreaming ’bout a driveway / With a basketball hoop.”
“Wood”
How about Travis it is: Perhaps the most NSFW song Taylor has ever written, this one is without a doubt about her guy on the Chiefs. I mean, “New Heights of manhood?” C’mon!
Most Travis lyric/reference: “Seems to me that you and me we make our own luck / New Heights of manhood / I ain’t gotta knock on wood.”
“Honey”
How about Travis it is: Fully. Aside from Travis’ honey-drenched scene in Happy Gilmore 2 (which Taylor once alluded to in her Instagram Stories), the below lyric seems to be a callback to their flirty exchange on the New Heights podcast, where Tay complimented Travis’ sweatshirt and he replied, “It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie.”
Most Travis lyric/reference: “Sweetie, it’s yours, kicking in doors, take it to the floor, gimme more, buy the paint in the color of your eyes, of your mind / And graffiti my whole damn life.”
