As we wish her well, here’s what we know about Bella Hadid’s health and hospitalization.

Why is Bella Hadid in the hospital?

While the reason for Bella’s sudden hospital visit was initially unclear, Yolanda cleared things up on Sept. 18, when she shared a carousel of images on Instagram and confirmed that Bella’s Lyme disease was the cause of her hospitalization.

“The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone,” Yolanda captioned her post, in part. “I try to lead by example on our Lyme journey but my own pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.”

When was Bella diagnosed with Lyme disease?

According to People, Bella was diagnosed with Lyme disease alongside her mom and brother, Anwar Hadid, in 2012.

They’ve been vocal about their health journeys and have long been advocates to bring awareness to the disease, as they’ve attended the Global Lyme Alliance’s Uniting for a Lyme-Free World Inaugural Gala in October 2015.

She’s opened up about her health journey before

In 2023, Bella got candid with fans about her “100+ days” living with Lyme disease during a different hospital visit.

In a lengthy Instagram post, she gave her mom a shoutout for “keeping all of my medical records, sticking by me , never leaving my side, protecting, supporting , but most of all, believing me through all of this.”

She went on to explain that the disease had taken a toll on her as she took on more modeling gigs in her fast-paced career. “Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain,” she wrote, in part. “To be that sad and sick with the most blessings/privilege/opportunity/love around me was quite possibly the most confusing thing ever.”

Her family has been supportive every step of the way

Bella’s big sis, Gigi Hadid, left a heartfelt comment under her most recent post, writing, “love you! I hope feel as strong and good as u deserve, soon!!!!!!”

In addition to her Instagram post, Yolanda also shared an Instagram Story featuring a clear blue sky and a sweet tribute to her daughter.
