There are two kinds of celebrity couples: There’s the “make your relationship part of your brand” type (see: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce), and the “don’t ask don’t tell” type (more of an Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater vibe). Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams are definitely the latter, which is why fans might be surprised to find out that Paul gave a rare comment about his relationship with Gracie in a recent interview.

Paul, who is currently promoting his film The History of Sound, has made a habit of keeping his relationships private, but he and Gracie did appear to confirm their relationship with a joint appearance at the Gladiator II premiere after-party in November 2024. The two have since been photographed at the same event multiple times but have never walked the red carpet together, and Paul has even made a few appearances on Gracie’s Instagram.

But, despite their semi-joint appearances, they have both remained tight-lipped when it comes to their relationship. Which is why it’s surprising that when asked if there was a moment that made him want to make things public in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he answered.

“I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me and I don’t want to...this isn’t...I don’t really...umm...I want to protect those things fundamentally,” he said. Not exactly the most revelatory statement, but sweet nonetheless!

Elsewhere in the interview, Paul said that he looks forward to being a dad in the future. “I would love to have a family. I’m not like, ‘I want them tomorrow,’ but I would love to have kids,” he said. As for baby names? “I love babies with very adult names,” he said. Sounds like a plan!
