Jen Affleck and Ben Affleck have officially crossed paths—and they did it in the most iconic way. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and actor teamed up for a new Dunkin’ ad, which features Jen making playful digs at Ben, a Boston-raised fan of the coffee chain. But...had they even met before this legendary link-up?
“I don’t know if he’s watched the show. But his daughter has,” Jen told Us Weekly ahead of the commercial’s release on September 15. The reality TV personality then dished that Ben’s daughter, Violet, happened to be a big fan of her show when she was on set for the commercial shoot.
“His daughter was there, and she’s a huge fan. She’s like, ‘It’s okay, we can be related. As long as I’m related to Jen, we’re chilling,’” Jen added, referring to the longtime rumor that she’s related to The Accountant actor.
“I’m sure his team told him about [the show], and he’s like, ‘Who the heck is she? I don’t know who this is.’ But hey, it led me to doing a commercial with him so I’m happy,” she shared. “It was a full-on shoot. I had a whole script. It was my first acting gig, honestly. I didn’t know my first acting gig would be with an Oscar-winning actor.”
Jen, who’s competing on this upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars thanks to the popularity of her show, also opened up about her relationship with Ben IRL after joining forces for the ad.
“We’re tight now. I got the opportunity to do a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial — and we all know that’s his thing. It was so fun. It was like we were family,” she told Us Weekly, joking that she invited Ben to their Thanksgiving festivities after also meeting her husband, Zac Affleck.
“We were definitely starstruck. We were all freaking out,” she dished. “He was so nice. I was not expecting it. I was not expecting how nice he was.”
In the ad, Jen promotes a new $6 deal from Dunkin’ while playfully making jabs at Ben.
“Expecting my cousin Ben? Nah. When Dunkin’ has something packed with amazing value, they bring me in. Jen Affleck: the value Affleck,” she joked. “Twice the personality, half the price. I am a steal.”
Like a good cup of coffee, she lightly roasted Ben, adding, “Why overpay for something that nobody wants? He’s so dated. I’m younger, hotter. Can you believe Ben is only 53? And it’s not like a young 53. It’s like a weathered 53.”
He then rolled through the drive-through with a simple reaction: “Rude! Totally average 53. Right down the 53 fairway.”
Love this for everyone involved!
