- Beyoncé decided to skip the 2025 Emmy Awards.
- Beyoncé was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl.
- The category included The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar, The Oscars, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Despite being up for an award (and getting shout-outs from both host Nate Bargatze and presenter Tina Fey during the ceremony), Beyoncé was a no-show at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Of course, considering Bey has never attended an Emmys ceremony despite previous nominations, this wasn’t all that much of a surprise. She’s a busy lady, after all!
Beyoncé is nominated tonight in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for Beyoncé Bowl. She shares the category with The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar, The Oscars, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Beyoncé Bowl took place during the Christmas Day NFL Halftime show, where Bey performed songs from Cowboy Carter for the first time in Houston (her hometown!). The show spanned 13 minutes and was impressive in basically every single way possible—including the wardrobe and styling.
Beyoncé’s head stylist, Shiona Turini spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about ideating the looks, saying, “Because this was the first Cowboy Carter performance, it still felt like an introduction to the album, visually, in a way.”
She went on to add, “This show was a reclamation of space as well as a visual love letter to Black cowboys, country-music icons, Texas legends, and Black culture. The wardrobe was so layered and a compilation of themes and references, much like the album itself.”
