It’s been two months since Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom officially announced their breakup after 10 years of dating (on and off), and while the actor has referenced reports of the breakup on social media, he hasn’t really addressed it head on—until now. Orlando finally opened up about his split from Katy Perry in an interview with Today on Friday, Sept. 5.

Orlando, who appeared to promote his new film, The Cut, kept things brief when asked by host Craig Melvin how he was holding up amid changes in his personal life. “I’m great. I’m so grateful. We’ve got a beautiful daughter,” he said, referencing five-year-old Daisy Dove. “You know when you leave everything on the field—like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it.”

He continued, insisting that he and his ex were “great” and, “We’re gonna be great. It’s nothing but love.” The two have already publicly signaled their desire to keep things amicable. Shortly after confirming the split, Orlando shared a photo of them with Daisy and his son from his marriage to Miranda Kerr, from what was reportedly their first family vacation as co-parents.

Orlando’s comments come after reports of tension between the former couple after Katy was spotted on a date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Just a few weeks ago, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Orlando and Katy's relationship was “a bit awkward and strained.”

That said, on Wednesday, Orlando’s ex, Miranda—with whom he shares 14-year-old Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland—said that Katy and Orlando were getting along well. “I actually just saw them both on the weekend. We were celebrating Daisy's birthday. We're one big happy family,” she said during an appearance on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show.

The model continued, “Katy is amazing, I love her. And Orlando obviously.” She added that it was important that they all keep things “harmonious” for the kids. “If you do have animosity, it only hurts yourself,” she said. Spoken like a woman who’s been through it!
