In all the excitement of the Dancing with the Stars season 34 cast announcements, you might have missed that fan-favorite pro, Sasha Farber, isn’t competing this season. In fact, it’s unclear if Sasha Farber will be on DWTS season 34 at all.
In the DWTS world, Sasha is known for making strong connections with his female partners—peep those dating rumors about him and season 33 partner Jenn Tran—and his strong aversion to wearing shirts of any kind. Now, fans are at a loss after learning that he’s not going to be on season 34.
The news first broke a few days ago, when judge Carrie Ann Inaba accidentally confirms this season’s pro lineup on her Instagram Stories. And once they realized Sasha’s name wasn’t included, fans flocked to his social media profiles to voice their disappointment.
“I am going to miss you so much on my TV every week. Your energy is unmatched. 🔥,” one fan wrote on Instagram, earning them a heart emoji response from the dancer. Others, including actor Danica McKellar, left similar comments.
In fact, the outpouring was so great that, so far, Sasha has only addressed his apparent absence from this DWTS season in the comments on his socials. Responding to a distressed fan on TikTok on Monday, he appeared to confirm he wouldn't be dancing this season, writing, “Really, thank you so much!!! It’s going to be such a good season ❤️.”
Now that the official cast list is out, it’s clear Sasha is out for the season, but the question remains: Does this mean he’ll be totally absent from the show, or will be return as a member of the dance troupe? All signs point to the former, as the dancer has even teased “a Sasha tour” in his TikTok comments.
Even though Sasha won’t be competing on this season or—it seems, dancing on our TV screens at all—he still could appear on the show as a choreographer or guest judge. When one fan commented on Instagram that they hoped to see Sasha surprise them on DWTS, he didn’t deny the possibility, instead responding with a coy heart emoji. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
