The Valley will be down one original cast member when it returns for a season 3. On Wednesday, July 16, Jax Taylor confirmed that he is leaving Bravo’s The Valley after two seasons on the reality TV show.
News of Jax’s departure isn’t too surprising. The last two seasons of the show have followed his struggle with alcohol abuse and mental health struggles—two things he says he wants to focus on. “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Jax said in a statement to Us Weekly. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship.”
He added, “Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself—especially for our son, Cruz.”
Jax has been on Bravo for over a decade, since he made his reality TV debut on Vanderpump Rules in 2013. He left the show in 2020, got married to fellow Vanderpump Rules star Brittany Cartwright, welcomed Cruz and returned to television in 2024 with The Valley.
His erratic behavior raised eyebrows among fans for years, but it wasn’t until September 2024—when he checked into an in-patient facility—that things began to get more serious. At the time, he told fans that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. In March 2025, he revealed that he was an addict and struggled with “substance issues,” particularly involving cocaine, for two decades.
Jax’s issues contributed to the end of his marriage, and it’s all been documented on The Valley. In fact, season 2 began with Jax checked into a mental health facility after an alleged violent outburst at Brittany’s house. As the season has continued, fans have watched Jax and Brittany fight over their son—with Jax showing increasingly volatile behavior—and some have even called on Bravo to fire Jax.
Jax may be leaving the show before season 3, but the current season isn’t over yet—The Valley season 2 finale airs on July 22. And Jax has already been confirmed to appear in the reunion, which was filmed in May.
