The Met Gala is a chance to (1) raise money for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, (2) celebrate their new exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” (3) judge everyone’s outfit choices, and—of course—(4) experience acute secondhand awkwardness when celebrities inevitably run into their exes on the red carpet.
This year’s Met Gala was packed with A-listers, and Hollywood’s dating pool couldn’t be smaller, so...yeah. The awk reunions were...abundant! Here’s who ran into whomst:
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan
Sabrina and Barry broke up in December 2024 amid cheating rumors, but a source told Us Weekly that Barry was “faithful and loyal” and said, “It’s been challenging for their relationship since she started going on tour and has been gone a lot. Their schedules were not aligning. All the time spent apart it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding.”
They also claimed Sabrina’s “huge level of stardom” made it “harder to focus and to be present for him in a relationship. A bulk of the issue is she barely has time for herself let alone for a relationship.”
Rosalía and Jeremy Allen White
A source told Us Weekly of their 2024 breakup, “Their decision to break up was mutual. They aren’t friends but have no ill will toward each other.”
Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton
These two had a seven year on-again/off-again relationship before finally breaking up for good—though there are no bad vibes. That said, Nicole claimed they weren’t in touch as of 2016, explaining, “I don’t see anything negative; I think it’s quite natural when people separate and go their own ways. You just have to be adult about it and just always wish the other person happiness, success and love—like, sincerely—and I do. We don’t, like, talk. I only wish him happiness and success.”
Patrick Schwarzenegger and Miley Cyrus
Miley and Patrick dated for about a year in 2014, but it was pretty low-key (though they did go event-official at a Grammys party!).
Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny
They started dating in February 2023, split up, and—ahem—got back together after reuniting at the Met Gala last year. Buuut then they broke up again in September. Per an Us Weekly insider, the pair “ultimately didn’t work out long term” and Kendall is the one who “decided she wanted space.”
